well putting your rearview mirror back on is probably cheaper than 1 dollar, but the point is that Mitsubishi should fix it.

I just said fanboi because I've seen a few times where it is clear that there is a defect with the car causing a problem but many members on this board make it out to be a problem with the owner. They pretend like the Evo is god's greatest gift to mankind and that it doesn't have flaws. And they're serious.

can eveyrone look at the facts here? there is a warranty being denied because of a subwoofer? thats the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. if the sub is wired wrong i can undstand that they wont fix the sunroof. but the rear view mirror falling off? thats totally BS. i have been in tons of cars with huge amounts of bass. cars for stereo shops with 4 12w7s or something crazy like that. cars so loud you cannot sit in them with it turned up. if a mirror is falling off and this car is short of being entered in decipal (sp) drags or whatever the hell stereo people call those competitions then the mirrror should be reattached no probem. its stupid sh*t like them not wanting to warranty a 2 dollar part that would take a min to fix thats making mitsu look so terrible. im done ranting. thanks

Mitsubishi should fix the problem under warrently because if they had not made the car so easy to break in the first place, there wouldn't be a problem. I've seen Civics with gigantic subs.... their 10 year old ricer doesn't fall apart when they listen to a song. The Evo is a great car, but build quality is severly lacking. Mitsubishi needs to step up. This is why they're going broke.

wow and thought the bimmerforum guys were dicks. nvm i brought up this topic.. you people are the reason mitsu is going broke. if dealer says it's our fault, then OBVIOUSLY it must be our fault right BS. extreme excess vibration huh? ok so then why is our car made for what it does then? rallys, road racing? drag? etc? if VIBRATION can cause our car to fall apart. then i might as well be better off with a hyundai.

and for evotagger. dont roll your eyes at me about picking the evo over the new m3. i test drove the new m3 and it feels like a whale. i dont feel connected to the car nor the road. my 98 e36 m3 felt more planted. and with the new bmw's turning more for luxury than track, i made the choice to get an evo cause when i test drove it, i felt planted and it made me happy. so if you think im BS'ing. go test drive one and tell me what you think.

no, i rolled my eyes b/c you were stereotyping the people who disagreed with you as "rich" and had previously stated that you were in the market for a brand new M3 (a car that costs nearly twice that of an evo)...i wasnt going to chime in on this thread until you put a stereotype on me simply b/c i disagree with you...you call yourself poor and us rich, yet there is no way in hell i could even think about affording a new m3...however, i mod my car and I fix stuff myself when it goes wrong

I personally disagree with you...I think excessive vibrations is a valid excuse for the parts that broke on that car...fact is those problems are NOT common...and the fact that it happened on a car with subwoofers in the trunk is no surpise...sure the sound package in the evo comes with a sub in the trunk...you said b/c of that you should be able to put any sub in your trunk and it shouldnt effect warranty, correct?

well let me ask you this...the evo comes stock with a turbo...does that mean i should be able to put any other turbo on the car and not expect it to put more stress on other parts??

do me a favor...put a cup of water on your computer desk...pound on the desk lightly as a factory subwoofer would...now hit the desk as hard as you can as an aftermarket 1000W sub would...tell me what happens to the cup of water after you pound on the desk several times...keep it up, and the desk will eventually break as well...

the evo's frame was built for hard driving...however, the interior component parts were not built to withstand CONSTANT vibrations for an aftermarket sub...i wouldnt have covered those parts under warranty either

now that i think about it...if you bought an evo b/c it was built as a rally racecar, then why are you even adding additional weight to the trunk anyways?

having a mirror break off has no excuse. that is solely a sign of poor build quality, subwoofer or not.

You're all acting like menstruating girls. Think about it. If you put some super-duper lights in the head lights / tail lights and then they wires burn up because of the excessive load, would that be warranty-able? What if they melt the housings because of the excessive heat? Would that be something that Mitsu should warranty as a "defect"? Stop being gay. You put the crap in your car and then the problem developed. Chevrolet told me the same thing when my truck started vibrating all to hell, shaking everything loose inside tie cab. That was about 2000 miles after I put Super Swamper Bogger tires on it. You gotta pay to play. You're acting the same way as those people who try to sue McDonald's for making you fat.

Stop being a blind fanboy. The car has the build quality of a Neon. Actually no, I've seen Neons who haven't fallen apart due to sub woofers. Someone else brought up a good point as well... this is SUPPOSED to be a rally car, that's why Mitsubishi made it in the first place. If it falls apart because it *vibrated* too much, there is something wrong. Its stuff like this that makes me want an STi instead, I doubt their mirrors fall off from listening to music.

i agree. I guess I'm just spoiled from my last car, a 17k civic

Mitsu build quality = dogmess. That is what the original poster is trying to allude to.

I had to chime in.

This is the street version of the EVO. Do you honestly believe that the WRC EVO has much in common with your car? You also said in an earlier post that these are built to Drag race? C'mon. Stop bringing these points up, its lame. In fact, using this argument is retarded.

Ya know what? If you want your warrenty to be in tact, don't mod your car at all, except for obvious things such as tint and such. Don't give them an excuse. Ride your warrenty all the way out, then modify. You can't have it both ways.

Either that or get a damn screwdriver and tighten the rear view mirror yourself and stop *****ing.
