A long block is different than a short block. The "block" or short block is no doubt capable of that power, but to actually produce it the long block (head included) is usually modified (head studs is a modification). I haven't seen anyone produce those #'s on an unmodified long block, and it wouldn't make much sense to try.

HECK YEAH

I got 489 awhp on 93 octane and 50/50 alky /water injection....i could have got tons more but i am not sure how far over 600 crank hp a stock motor can go with only $80 head bolts and some cams.....lol
Thanks again slickmotorsports for the great craftsmanship and turbo setup and switzer performance for their awesome tuning and dyno!

I think I know what your are getting at, but it is still a bit misleading. Block and short block are not interchangeable. A bare Evo block may be capable of 1000+ but when you say stock short block you mean stock pistons, crank, and rods. I pretty much accept the fact that it won't be stock long block to get those 450whp+ plus numbers because I know they'll use cams, and then maybe cam gears, bigger valves.

The short block can put down some serious numbers. Al just put down 744whp on his stock bottom end althought the head is modified and he is using head studs also. I was impressed that the EVO bottom end can hold up to such high numbers where even a 1G DSM with big rods is typically only good for around 500whp.

You are joking right? Al's stock bottom end using the Pauter rods, Ross (I think) pistons, and no balance shafts, you mean that stock bottom end? Unless Al has another Evo hidden somewhere making 744whp, then I do believe that his bottom end is very built.

I remembered reading stock so I did a little digging and does have pistons.

Here is exactly what it does have per his post...

"Its a 100% stock original bore block with drop in stock bore Pruven Pistons, balance shafts removed and stock crank."

Dam* pain killers

Like they all said. The motor will hold over 500 without modification. I have head studs (Not bolts) as well to ensure no leaking of the headgasket but the actually motor holds it fine every day. I will run it at 30 psi shortly so we will see how it does daily at around 550-575 daily. Im sure Cosmo was pushing around 550-580 when he had his stock block. Ran a 10.8 at 128 perfectly stock motor. I plan to do the same.

Not true. The rods in the 7bolt DSM look like the size of rods out of a b16, but they are very strong. The rods in the EVO are forged and so is the crank.
