Service Engine Light

I drove back from Minneapolis to Des Moines today and when I got back I noticed that my service engine light had come on. The car was running fine, had good oil pressure, was at normal temps, and sounded normal. So I get home and the car sits for about an hour and a half. When I go to start it up to run to the store I noticed that the light wasn't on anymore. I didn't realize that it can turn itself off, I thought you had to go the dealership for that. Do I need to get things checked out? I need an oil change anyways so I will be taking it in sometime this week. Anyone else have their light come on and then go off by itself?

I know sometimes if you have that test pipe and its not tighted enough or maybe not quite on right and it moves a lil bit that could cause the light to come on you know?

If you disconnect the battery that will clear CEL.

Dont clear it until you find out what it is. If you have an autozone nearby, they pull codes for free( even though the light went out, the code is still in memory). After you find out what the code is then you go from there. Probably nothing, but its nice to know.

I have just over 32000 miles, and my mods are: 3in RNR cat back, and AEM intake. I don't get it, the car still runs great.

My light has been on for about a month and a half, I presume because of my exhaust. Took it to the dealer and there was nothing wrong, just becuase of the mods. I used to own a mustang and one day the light came on when I started the car up, and was on for a few weeks then when off and never came back on again. I never got it checked out by anyone.

I believe the CEL light also comes on when if you don't have the oil changed at the dealership. (every 5k miles? I've been resetting my battery more than that so I'm not sure at what point the mileage pops the CEL.

The intake could be messing with the MAF, also, if you have a VTA BOV, that can sometimes cause the CEL.

Catback should not cause a CEL issue because its not a cat delete.

Well I got my oil changed this morning and they did a free diagnostic on it and the code that came up was for the cam and crankshaft. They were confused that the light went off by itself, but it runs fine. They said just to watch it and if the light comes back on to bring it back imediatley.
