Getting rid of service engine soon light?
Getting rid of service engine soon light?
My service engine soon light has been on for a couple of months now. I know it is nothing serious because I took it to the dealer and they ran a diagnostic check, for free, and said there is nothing wrong, it's just the mods I have one the car. I have a Buschur Racing intake, Buschur Racing 3" tbe w/high flow cat, and an Apex S-AFC II tuned with Buschur Racing settings. The issue is mainly that the light is on and it bothers me, plus the fact the I need to get it inspected and heard it might not pass emissions if the light is on. If I reset the the ECU, it will go off and the come back on after about 30 minutes of driving. I presume it is because it takes that long for the rear O2 sensor takes that long to get up to proper operating temperature. Anyway, I am sure there have been others this has happened to, and I am just curious to know how you got the light to go off and stay off. I have seen the dummy type fix the you wire in place of your sensor, but I have also seen the fixes that involve moving the sensor out of the exhuast stream so it doesn't read as much or heat up all the way. Any input here would be much appreciated. Thanks.
They pulled the code at the dealership for free. I have the work order that lists what they did and the code I believe. I just don't remember it off the top of my head. They said that it was running rich, and I know it is because I can smell it in the exhaust. I have read that they do anyway from the factory. I didn't get a super good explination, my main concern was that there was nothing major wrong, which they said there wasn't, just the mods. I assumed that the aftermarket high flow cat wasn't get up to the job of of cleaning up the exhaust, like the stock cat, so the rear O2 sensor thinks there is something wrong, but there isn't. In turn it trips the light.
