Fair price for Cam install?

I'm trying to figure out how much I should pay for a cam install (HKS 264/272). I've seen prices from $175-$300. What do you guys think is fair? Any recs for good shops in the Los Angeles/OC area?

175 is a good price from what I've read. Is that shop reliable though? If they are and they have a good reputation, take it.

if your not going to do it yourself, then i'd pay up to $300 to have it done right. new belt and tensioner depending on milage and bleed the lifters.

Theres a guy in SoCal who does cam installs for $125. I think his name is Abby (sp?). Try looking on SoCalEvo.net and you can probably find his contact info.

Ask around. It is difficult to find a good shop/mechanic and a higher price doesn't mean better work.

You can view some of the reviews within my customer rating.

My experience has been centered around turbo charged racing engines for ~20 years within the IMSA GTP, CART & IRL series working for NPTI, TRD, Cosworth & currently Honda for the last 10 years as a trackside / dyno developement engineer.

Besides my experience, a few more advantages of having me do the work, is when you schedule a time of arrival, work starts immediately. The work is quick & reliable.

Good choice. This guy does top notch work. I had my cams and cam gears installed by him. He has experience and his garage and tools are super clean.

Plus, it only took him 3 hours flat to do the job.

Wow, $125 for cam install is insanely good.....i was quoted $350 from a really good shop by my house and i said screw it and did it myself. Saved me some serious bank......but damn, i would have definitely had them done for $125.....and according to his experience, this should be no problem for him!

$125 for Cams installation is really CHEAP. Wish you were located over here in the Mid-West.
