a day at Pruven
a day at Pruven
i am not sure if this is the correct section to post this, but anyhow.. here it goes
the day started around 9:30 at Pruven for my DYNOFLASH day .. my appointment was around 12:30 and my car got teched around 11ish .. after the tech inspection, we roll my car on the dyno for a DYNOFLASH .. AL got a hold of my ECU and did some of his magic and bam .. it went back into the car .. we made 2 pulls and everyone was scratching their heads wondering why my car wasn't making the power i should with the mods i have... meanwhile KENNY from PRUVEN was working on another car at the time and with his PRO TRAINED instructment ( his ear ) .. he advised everyone to take a look at my timing .. and sure enough it was my Timing that was off by 6 teeth or something like that ... WOW ( i had someone install my cams and when he put it back it wasn't put back correctly ) well, Kenny put my car on the lift and started working on my car. and 1 hour later, my car was back to form and ready to run again ..
once again we put my car back on the dyno and tried again to make monster power with the help of AL .. but once again it wouldn't make the power it should ( cams 272s, fuel pump, turbo back-no car, RS intake ) .. so DAN and KENNY got a hold of my can and ran some tests and talk to me about solutions and what was needed ..
basically, the story was that the guys at PRUVEN are awesome ppl and very very nice to deal with and very very knownledgable of the car ! you guys at PRUVEN definitely made me feel at ease with my situtation .. thanks once again ! from now on PRUVEN is the only place i'll ever take my car to ! and would recommand it to anyone !
PS. Big thanks to Kenny for not treating me like a dumbass with my series of dumbass questions ...

thats why i love the fact that i am so close to pruven. i will be having pruven install my injectors, head studs, cams, clutch, and methy kit very soon.
did you ever find out what the problem was?

well, after speaking to Kenny and Dan .. they've told me that it can be # of things, weak piston, bend valve to name a few .. but they would have to pull my block apart to see .. so they advised me that its not worth to pull my block for a lost of 10-15 HP and that my car is still drive-able .. so i just have to live with 10-15HP lost in gain .. but after doing the leak down and compression test .. my car came back with normal #s .. so im just gonna live with the lost in HP gains ...

something doesn't make sense. What did you put down? It better be atleast 315+whp on that dyno.
yeah .. it was 315HP .....
thats the weird thing that no on can figure out ... thats why they really didn't want to say exactly what it can be until they pull my block apart ...

sup man! we had a fun time @ pruven haha.
After I got home I changed my plugs and set to 22PSI, it pulls a lot better than it did when I left, but I am wondering if I have a boost leak.
I got 324whp / 306wtq with those same mods on 19psi boost, I thought the torque should be higher... so that's whats leading me to think I have a leak, or at least the Stock BOV is not holding the pressure well.
Did they check your system for leaks too?
They changed the plugs and all that stuff too right?

yo tomz... i dun want to hijack your thread but im stressed as it is about my situation as you know... so here it goes...
thankz to Al and the guyz at Pruven... they did their jobs in giving us all the advice and tuning needed...
Im a lil upset at myself for my misfortunes... i wish my car would have produced the #'s i was expecting but improper installations on my car was made by others (NOT AL OR PRUVEN).
Im still trouble shooting my car and why it wont produce the power. Funny thing is, when i got home that night... I took the cover off again and the belt was tight as hell... so i sit in my car, confused for an hour... not coming up with any conclusions... i decided to tackle the problem with a clear head the next day.
When i popped the hood the next morning... to my surprise the belt was loose again... confused again for another hour... contimplating all the angles... came up with nothing... I decided to send an email to greddy tech and i have yet to hear a response from them if its a normal thing (cold=loose & hot=tight) which i doubt.
My next few thoughts was from the discussion I had with Al and Kenny that day at Pruven...
1- I could have a timing issue (even though all saw that the marks on the cams lined up to the eye.
2- I could have some shaft play on my oem turbo... which I havent had the time to investigate yet...
As far as I can gather... all the pre-tests were good (leak down, boost leak, plugs changed... etc) and I even went the distance to have my oil, synchro, tc and tranny fluids changed at Pruven before my ride was strapped to the dyno...
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas... hit me up...
Thankz to Al and Sean/Kenny/Dan at Pruven

The inbalance of the lower compression on that one cyl is usually enough to lower the peak whp by about 10 - 20 whp (we have seen it before)
I suspect that one of his valves tapped a piston due to the 6 teeth off on teh timing belt - sad story
I suspect that your belt tensioner may be defective - I would take the side cover off and inspect it
