$4500...how to spend it?
$4500...how to spend it?
First of all...I'd like to thank the Internal Revenue Service for giving me BACK the money they took from me throughout 2004...$4500 and change. NOW, how can I spend it on my '03 Evo? I'd like to get her runnin' (being conservative and realistic) in the low-to-mid-12's but I can't install jack (no space + limited know-how) so I gotta include shop labor and tuning. The car is 100% stock but I have an Exedy twin clutch that will go in first (guess that will eat up $400-700 too).
So, how should I go about this task? I'm in central VA but traveling 6-8 hours is not really an issue. I'm thinking turbo-back exhaust is a given, and intake, and maybe dynoflash. Should I skip the flash and buy the AEM? Or just slap on whatever bolt-ons the money will buy?

If you want to run some good power, a turbo back, cams, intake, boost controller, and a custom tune will greatly satisfy you. Let us know what your looking for we can help you out.

10.5 ti hotside-???
HKS 272 cams-$600+$300labor
Buschur 3in TB-$775
MBC-$100
Dynoflash custom tune w/methanol injection kit-$999 I think, not positive
255 walboro-$95
Buschur FMIC-$-750
680 injectors-$385
Upper int pipe-$330
mini battery-$225
TOTAL----$4559+however cheap you can find the 10.5
You can install everything in your car yourself except maybe the cams. Maybe you know how to do that to though. You could probably buy this in a package deal too, because I was just giving random prices.
Although it might be faster than low 12's depending on how good you can drive.

This is fast & refined. Go with the hotside, HKS 280 camshafts (dialed in at 0,0 or 2,0,) exhaust & Xede preprogrammed or custom tuned with both a pump map and a 110 oct race map. Even if you get a Xflash (which is the flash for the ecu), you won't be disappointed(you will only have one map). Either way, you won't regret it.
You can put the rest into a clutch & installation.

turbo back ~$700-$1000
EBC ~$300; you might want a cheap MBC, but you need a $75 gauge. i need to change my boost settings depending on humidity and temperature, i also drive low boost in heavy traffic to save gas money.
walbro $85 shipped, search here for it.
SAFC II ~$350, or some type of fuel management sytem.
BOV ~$200 if plan on running over 20 psi or if yours is leaking before then. lots of stalling issues though.
I/C piping. lower I/C ~$200 IMO is great improvement for drivability. shifting and throttle is much smoother. Upper pipe ~$350 w/BOV sometimes requires mini battery and i've read here and from some vendor websites that the upper does nothing for power.
fmic ~$500; tons of arguments on this in evom about if it does anything besides improve heat soak. it is dyno proven, but some say it has not improved times at all. sure is nice for the summer though.
cams and headstuds seen offer for $1000 out the door in chicago; headstuds to protect your car, 264's or 272's if daily driver.
you do not need injectors, and an intake will hurt drivability. plus pletnty of people run stock airbox with much more mods. injectors would be needed around cams. IMO, our cars run rich and and injectors flow <100% duty cycle
i also read that a hotside gives little gains as well as O2 housing. those cost a good amount with install. this is just shy of $4000 and should make around 370 whp.

You can save gas by driving normal(the speed limit).
