Don't understand some of these HP claims

I keep seeing claims by Vendors of 100+ WHP (91-94) on TBE w/CD, Cams, MBC and Flash but when you look at some of the individual part Dyno tests by AMS, AEM or Harmann they inidicate gains that add up to much less than 100 WHP.

If you figure 20 WHP for each of the 4 mods I mentioned that's 80 WHP, but that would be a generous figure. Mods shouldn't just add to each other perfectly like that... the rule of diminishing returns comes into play. Where is all this WHP coming from?

I gained ~70-95 (91-100 octane) WHP on a DynoJet from TBE w/HFC, Cams, MBC and a Utec road racing tune, ... I'm now considering an Intake and test pipe.

It all comes down to tuning and/or the smaller details, such as IC piping, cam grind, boost setting, etc. TBE, cams, MBC, and a custom tuned flash _can_ glean 100whp over stock on pump gas. If you consider that many 03-04s make ~330whp with this setup, then that's right around +100whp, since they usually dyno 220-230 in stock form. Of course, some numbers get lost (or gained) if different dynos are used before and after, so you have to take that into consideration. I don't think your WHP is far off of the # you are contesting either, especially since you have a HF cat, which isn't nearly as good as a test pipe. Intake shouldn't matter, but perhaps intake piping (specifically the LICP).

To reiterate, though, a lot also comes down to tuning. You say you are road tuned, but that is nothing like a dyno tune. On a road tune, you can get the AFRs, timing, and boost set, but you can't verify that it's making more hp/tq. On a dyno, you can fine-tune everything while VERIFYING that each adjustment is creating more hp/tq (or not). Plus, dyno conditions are not equivalent to road conditions, so the settings for one do not carry over to the other.

Mods build on each other. i.e. if you add exhaust, you may get 20, but if you add intake, you may get 23 from exhaust and 8 from intake, add cams, it would maybe make it 26 + 20 from cams and 10 from intake, etc. It's not like individual parts work on their own. It works together as a whole, this getting more hp than the individuals. It's additive.
