I talked to a sales guy and he said it was optional and said oil changes are every 3,000 miles so he was building value in the package. (basically saying the pre-paid maintenance package will save you money in the long run)

Limey, what dealer told you that? Sounds like they are trying to get one over on you. I find it hard to believe that a car manufacturer would be able to require you to purchase their maintenance services. Maybe if it was something that only their techs could perform but oil changes and fluid top offs? Come on now!!

It seems like its cheaper to maintain a Ferrari than an Evo VIII.

I know ...but not to perpetuate more hatred amongst dealers if you really think about it ...it would be a way of saving themseves against bogus warranty claims....I would prefer not to mention the dealer......we have a rapour at least I think we do
I would prefer to waive the waranty and technician service and change my own oil and rotate my own tires ect....does anyone know any other info on service schedules apart from oil ect.....

what about fuel filter, pollen filter, egr valves, cam belts....maybe claudius can help us with this

You guys should check out www.carbuyingtips.com and arm yourselves with some basic information on not getting screwed by the dealer. No one has to buy Mitsu's maintenance contract, they cant void your warranty, so long as you follow the MANUFACTURERS maintenance schedule.

Pit Pass is optional

I am selling the Evo's in Texas and we are not making it mandatory for the pit pass. That would be silly as some of my customers are from California and all over texas. You do want to take your Evo to a dealership that has tech's that went to the Evo trainning.

i definitely appreciate your post, salesguy, but it does imply that the pitpass is only valid at the dealer that it is purchased at.

it has been discussed some here, and i thought it came out that it would be transferable to any dealership...

which is the case?

Your right ....you can take your car anywhere with an evo trained tech......I was given the sales training leaflet as a momento..(it's the only thing i'll have with the letters M,O,M and O in them for yet another 4 weeks ) and it seems to make it clear that it will be easier than a normal dealer service
