How will a stock evo go against a stock Camaro LT1
First, what year car are we talking about here? Second, I know for a fact that a stock Evo will beat an LT1 Camaro from both a roll and from a dead stop, because I have done it many, many times. LS1's however, I can't speak on, as I have not raced any.
Alright...lemme see if I can make a statement that everyone agrees with.
Drag Racing bone stock equal drivers: LS-1 > Evo > LT-1
Circuit Racing bone stock equal drivers: Evo > LS-1 > LT-1
Some form of motorsport where both parties accelerate to 10mph then beep the horn and take off up to some arbitrary speed aka street racing...well that's anyone's guess.

all camaro's 98+ have the LS1 motor, which is all aluminum and 346 ci vs. the iron block 350 ci LT1, its a whole nother animal, and is a free revving, high breathing monster from a roll... the 2001 and 2002 LS1 motors are further upgraded with the Z06 intake manifold, and Z06 clutch. Some rare '01's and '02's had the LS6 block (block from the vette Z06).
I just sold my midnight blue '01 camaro ss 6 speed two months ago... compared to my EVO that was a MUCH faster car stock for stock....

i used to wanna get a '98+ WS6 trans am which has same 5.7l LS1 and performance as the SS camaro of the same year (WS6 looks better imo though). i've researched on it and as i remember factory specs it had 13.9 in the 1/4 and 5.1-5.2 in 0-60. the SS and WS6 packages of '01-'02 (last rendition of the f-bodies) had 325 hp and 350 torque. this is the same engine as C5 although slightly less hp. as u can see, the measured performance is tiny bit slower than the evo as far as magazine testing goes, but from a roll they will take the evo. they also may FEEL faster cause of the sick torque. also, those cars weigh 3700 lbs.
now the LT1 has noticeably less hp, but still has lots of torque. it's possible that it'll be the same from a roll, but from a dig, evo should take it in the 1/4.
those cars dont handle all that bad actually. they feel very different in response on autox, but on road course they'll hold their own. i like them much better than the new boring looking GTO, although it has the advantage of IRS

well my buddy has a ls1 camaro stock, and i have a stock 05 Evo and from a 40 roll i took a car and a half on him and we got to about 120 and he passed me like it was nothing, the ls1 camaros are geared for top end
From what I've heard, ls1's put down aroud 320-330 whp stock. I've raced my friends '99 ws6 6speed many a time from a roll. When I had (drop in, catback, downpipe), he would walk me with his (catback & lid). Ls1's are STRONG up top. Cammed ls1's can put down around 390-400+ whp. Two of my friends have Ls1's. I had to be different
.
edit: If you need some more hp, buy my exhaust

The question is about a LT1 camaro, not an LS1. The other variables we don't know about here are the year of the car, type of tranny, and the rear gear ratio. A stock LT1 with a 5 speed and 3.55 rear ratio will fare much better than one with an auto and 2.73's. We don't have enough info to make an educated guess here, and so much of this depends on the driver. I personally think it would be close.

I can tell you from experiance a LT1 will not keep up with a stock 05 Evo. I owned a 95 Trans Am with a LT1. I ran stock with auto and 273 gears a 14.65 at 97mph. The same LT1 with intake, exhaust, header and chip ran a 13.76 at 101mph, with a powerdyne supercharger ran a 13.35 at 106mph. I ran a 13.3 at 102mph with my stock 05 RS. The LT1 stock is nothing to be concerned with but with some simple bolt ons watch out.
