APS 3.5" TBE Impressions

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to post up a few pics and my impressions of the APS 3.5" TBE exhaust. When doing some research and contemplating getting a 3" TBE exhaust instead of the APS 3.5, I was really leaning toward the 3" option. A lot of people make it sound as if going 3.5" is a total waste, it'll be too loud, etc...

I can gladly say that the exhaust is quieter than other 3" TBEs that I have heard, and it just sounds better in my opinion. It has a nice low rumble at idle, drives relatively quiet, then when you get on it, it'll open up and give a nice tone. I am sure that it gives as much if not more power than these other 3" exhausts, and I know that in the long run I may end up needing it for the power I am looking to make. The fit and finish of the exhaust is GREAT! On my '04 RS that is pretty much stock right now, it fit perfect and there were no clearance issues anywhere.

When I was looking for pictures, I was unable to find any other than the one of the kit off the car that you see on various sites. For anyone who is interested, here are a few pictures I took of the exhaust on my car, and one before installation:

Hope this can help people who are interested in the APS exhaust!...

-Trevor

that's smart, the resonator or whatever that is on the tip. i like how you could open or close the vents on the side.

I'm sure it's ungodly loud with the silencer out.

It's pretty quiet with the resonator vents open. I was assuming it'd be much louder, as my friend has a 3.5" TBE from APS on his STI and it is quite loud.

I'll try to see if I can get some sound / video clips of it while driving and post them up so people can see. I know it's kinda hard to get real good clips on the 'net, but I'll see what I can do.

Nice looking exhaust ... but I think the downpipe could be straighter ... correct me if I am wrong guys but I have seen straighter aftermarket downpipes ... on the other hand the APS could make up for it by being 3.5" ... do post up some sounds ...

They're $1295.00. It's really difficult to get a "deal" on APS products. I got mine through Perfection Motorsports. It arrived pretty quickly.

I just do not understand why companies make these exhaust systems with no resonators and tiny mufflers. Do they really think that all EVO owners live their life a quarter mile at a time?
