Some JDM EVO 8 pics with article from a HK mag
This kit being tested is available from a Japanese Company, Ikeya Formula.
Lui's comment:
Generally speaking, during the shifting motion, the time that you step on the clutch is longer than the time you move the shift knob. The major advantage for racing "Sequential shift" is eliminating the process of stepping on the clutch; incorporated with push/pull shifting method to really shorten the time for changing gear. So that the racer can focus more on the steering. When shifting down a gear, the ECU of the Sequential tranny will automatically matches the rpm to provide much linear power output....

Lui claims the sequential shifter is much heavier than stock.

Push=down, Pull=up and reverse=the little thingy in the yellow circle...

This EVO V is one of the first EVOs in HK to undergo the tranny conversion. The entire process is relative simple and the cost is starting from approximately $1,250 USD (Labor included).
Here is the impression from Michael Lui: "This sequential kit from Ikeya Formula is slightly different from "real" racing sequential tranny. Basically, this kit utilized some bearing and a specially designed mechanism to have a Push/Pull shifter to fit on the stock "H" shape shifting path. Therefore, you still have to step on the clutch to make it work (unlike racing tranny). It require more strength to shift. Due to the shorter shifting distance, it should reduce the overall time. However, you cannot skip a gear in this kit (4->2). In addition, it would require two hands to get in reverse, which is very inconvenient for rally use. Since we will have to be in reverse in many cases to back up. By using this kit, it will cost even more time.
Overall, the major advantage for this kit is the "racing feel" it provides.
I'm done, whew...tired

whoa, thanks for posting the pics of the black 8. those are the first good pictures of a black evo 8 that I have seen, btw i ordered a black 8. it looks just as dope as i imagined. oh and those side splitters from ralliart are also made by C-West and only cost about $180. and they are CF as well. does anyone out there know if ralliart parts will be available from mitsu dealers only or all chrysler based dealerships?
I really doubt that Fong reviewed the car himself, I think he just went for the photo shoot...they should have Nic Tse review the Audi RS4
Michael Lui, on the other hand, used to race in the WRC
He import cars now through his company Promax, sold 2 GT-R to my dad a few years back(a R32 Nismo and a R33).

Nic: the ABS AND suspension on the RS4, 360 and all subarus need to be improved. They have a long way to go
Michael ALWAYS wear a shirt with his dealership's logo/name on it to ANY test drive and photo shoot
He's a cool dude, saw him once in person (in a subaru news commerce type of thing a few years back) I was still a kid
