As all of you know, it has the same 4G63 (280ps/6,500rpm; 40.0KG/M, which is ~290 lb/ft) with the 6-spd MT.
Some interesting facts:
Weight: 1,410 KG (~3,102 lb)
Price: $333,000 HKD (~$42,860 USD)
Registeration: $750 USD
The magazine invited a HK actor, Fong, who also owned EVO VI, TME, VII and WRX Sti V7 before to test drive it.

Fong's comment:
The front is very aggressive looking as compared to previous EVOs. Although the air inlet at the grille is smaller, it is compensated by the larger outlet on the hood. I don't like the tail of the VII and the 8 since it looks very plain. If they can extend the tail-lights a little bit, that should be fine. I missed the adjustable wing on VII, but this time you have CF, kind of a trade off....
...The Recaro feels the same as the VII's. It wraps around you closely. The dark interior looks nice and the gauges are very easy to read. The shifter is great, very smooth and the shape is nice.

Fong con't:
During the test drive, although the road is very narrow and twisty, the EVO maintain very stable. It performs much better than the VI and TME. The rpm goes up just as quick, however, the turbo is kind of "softer", like a larger displacement engine. Gear ratio is very close, especially from 2nd to 4th, that would require a bit more concentration while driving. Since the road does not have some fast straight section, I seldom shift to 6th. If we put it on the highway, the top speed should be very high. The VI and TME don't match in this area.
Handling-wise, the 8 is the best for all EVOs, and it is better than the Sti V7. The Sti is slightly understeer, but not too much. You can eliminate it by appropriate throttle control. However, on the EVO, there is no such problem (understeer). I think it's because of the "Super AYC" (new and improved, more on this). It helps a lot in power distribution and enchance control while turning. This is a very successful improvement. The suspension setting is still harsh, good for performance, not so much of comfort for daily driving....
Same Enkei's as on US EVO

The rear wing provides 170% more downforce as compared to the VII's under the same condition.
The following is a previous draft for the 8
The 4G63 on EVO 8 features lighten, forged aluminum pistons with steel rods. Torque output improved 1KG/M from the VII and more responsive during 3,000-5,000rpm range. Output is more linear...
A 6-spd tranny is always the dream of EVO fans. Finally, it's added onto the EVO 8. Therefore, the 8 will have the highest top speed among all EVOs (estimated 250km/h - 270km/h). acceleration from 80-120km/h is 0.5 sec faster.

Super AYC
From EVO IV, AYC (Active Yaw Control) was utilized on the EVO. Finally, on the 8, a "Super AYC" will be used. The main improvement is the revised LSD sections to enchance movement for 160% as compared to the previous AYCs. This improvment dramatically reduce understeer with improved control during cornering. Incorporated with the ACD (Active Center Differential), the EVO is very agile on the road.

Nice thanks LAN EVO! Despite us not getting the AYC or ACD.. I'm still very excited about the arrival of the car... I wonder if later on they started to put the AYC ACD into the later EVO's and you bought the first imports without it.. if you HAD the cash.. could you swap in and out with that (Although I know it's not as easy as swap in and out) Just hypothetically speaking... Maybe no sure anwser I'm guessing being the cars not here yet.. but yeah.. just my question...

Great post
As of weight they have ACD/AYC, LSD and the 6-speed adds more weight. But definity japanese use some kind of funky scale or dry weight which they think it's curb
