Day at the tracks

Well today i took my car to the tracks.

1st run
13.2 with 2.88 60'!!!! first run of my life
13.4 with a 1.88 60'' (mis shifted 2nd and went straight to 3rd)

went to LACR in palmdale

after that i had the worst experience of my life as my car would not shift into 2nd or 3rd. I banged the hell out of it to shift, but it would not go. I forced it and tried to quickly shift, no. i tried to soft shift, and nope. I noticed that after about 5k rpm the revs would shoot up and the car would 'slow down'. It got progressively worse till i couldnt rev past 3k. Best 60 i could pull was a 1.88. I had someone else try my car to see if it was my driving, but he couldnt get it into 2nd or 3rd either (ran 13.5!!) (he ran 12.7 in his SRT4 with ecu and slicks). One of the guys said it was probably my clutch. I ran a total of 7 runs that night and had a blast, i just wish that my clutch would have held up. Its pretty much dead now, any revs past 3k and it will shoot up to five, hold for a sec, and shoot to redline and off the limiter. I was hoping for high 11's which now seems like a dream, but next time i will try with a better clutch

full exhaust
280 camshafts
fuel pump
injectors
rail
valve springs retainers
cam gears
custom tune exede

some other stuff, but the major stuff is listed.

stock clutch 20k miles

Sound like lots of fun, minus the broken bits. Careful though, I hear any form of racing is both addictive and hazardous to the wallet.

Yeah LACR is a slow track, but you ran a 13.2 (which is 12.8 at a faster track) with a 2.88 60FT, pretty impressive. Slow Track + Bad Driving=Not very good times. Still I believe if you get a good run and launch in, you'll see a very impressive time. Go to Fontana (Cal Speedway) next Saturday, you'll run faster there (as long as you don't do anymore 2.88 60FT).

PS #1- I guarrantee that SRT-4 had much more than ecu and slicks.

PS #2- 2.88 is one of the worst 60FTs I've ever heard of, LOL.

New clutch or not, he just needs to learn how to drive the car.

Once he does, I think that car already has the power to go 11s. 13.2 with a 2.88 60' is INSANE. If you just linearly calculate the difference between that and a 1.88 60', then he's got a 12.2, but we all know that better 60' times result in compounded gains at the 1/4-mile, so it looks like he's making upwards of 400whp.

well my best 60 foot was 1.8, the damn car will just not shift.

the car officially wont even move, so a new clutch is in order. i was really hoping for better numbers.

with a new clutch ill go down and just try to improve my driving skill.

it realllly slipped at higher rpms in 4th and 3rd. i raced a turbo civic that ran a 11.72. beat him by about a car and a half at the launch, pulled another half a car, then at the top of second it was all downhill from there. I felt so embarassed it would not shift into third and the civic pulled away to a 11.72. (he broke his transmission). while i was helping him push his car i noticed my car smelled like absolute sh*t.

Picking this thread back up. I went to LACR tonight and it is a pretty bad track but I was able to obtain some decent numbers. Currently the only mods done to the car are a drop in K&N, an Injen cat back, and a boost conrtoller. The best ET of the night was 13.4 but it was with a 2.1 60 ft. That damn launch limiter is getting on my nerves. I made about 6 passes. Most were between 13.4-13.6. But on my final run I ran 25 PSI on 100 octane; it should have been a good run but I missed third ran a 13.5 with 105 trap speed and a 1.9 60 ft. By the way it was 90 degrees out during the runs with a density altitude of 5768 ft. So all in all I was somewhat pleased with the performance of my near stock evo with 2900 miles on the odometer.
