So far I've just got the APS 3.5" turboback exhaust and an APS intake, and the car is hitting like 20-21 psi of boost, and I love it, it has gained a good amount of power for sure. I keep hearing about leaky stock BOVs when the boost is turned up even a little, but I have not had any problems yet. I think sometimes people just get addicted to the sound of aftermarket BOV vented to atmosphere and feel like they NEED it but I dunno...

I'm just getting started with the mods, but I feel like I've got a good start.

Oh, the stock BOV _is_ leaking, but your turbo is just working harder to get to 20-21psi. By "leaking" I don't mean it's just letting all the boost out, but rather it's leaking out just enough to make your turbo work harder. When I pressure-tested my IC/vaccuum system, my stock BOV leaked at 13psi.

You can rest assured I am not a VTA or bling fan, so that is not my motivation for replacing the stocker. I did quite well with it and noticed no dire effects, but the JDM MR BOV looks just like stock, recirculates, was cheap, and isn't as weak, so that's why I put it in.

I use the 1g BOV, its supposed to be good up to 25 lbs. Plus, I already had it so it was free! Works for me.

I was responding to Trevor in relation to the stock bov. The 1g bov is better, but I still don't believe it's good to 25psi crushed. I used 1g BOVs on all 3 of my 1g DSMs, and using a psi gun, they opened at 16-17psi stock...21-22psi crushed. When I had them crushed to 21psi, they were great at the track, but when I ran 17psi on the street, I got a lot of compressor surge for obvious reasons.
