Unless you know the previous owner and know who tuned it, I would stay away. IMHO there are too many used Evos out there that have been modded by the brainless and slow-of-wit, who realized too late the atrocities they were unleashing on their cars and are now, with all due haste, peddling them off to the unsuspecting public...

a UTEC would not be to blame for damage.. an abused and mistreated, or idiotic owner can be to blame..

IF you know the history of the car, and are certain its in good running condition, then the UTEC should have no effect on your decision. But as everyone else has said, people sell these cars for a reason, frequently, its to get out of a mess they got themselves into (either the expense of owning the car, or the damage they caused to it)

Maybe because blue book value isn't 27k? Even if you choose "excellent" for condition, it's only worth 25k for private party. If you're referring to retail value, then that's dumb, because you aren't a retailer.

LOL x2, only way you'll get 27k is from the insurance company if you put it into a tree.

Well, the point wasn't really that he won't be able to sell it for 27k. He was saying that Evos were losing resale value, and after being challenged, he made the comment about getting 27k for his car AS IF that was actually the blue book value. In actuality, the blue book value is only 23.7 or so (good condition), and I'm pretty sure he could sell it for that much if it really is in good shape.

sorry for

Have you checked the bb value yourself? 27k IS the actual blue book value for an 03 private pary, 20k, excellent cond. Please.. why would I say that without looking it up? However zip code does come into play. over here in cali kbb is showing a higher value for some reason. Good condition is 25500. I dont think you'll get that much for it.

Oh well, it's only 25k in DC for Excellent and 23.7k for good. What you are seeing is not the actual value by any means, because people can buy brand new 05s for 29k, so saying that the Evo resale value has gone to crap is untrue. 23-24k is a very good value for a car that's almost 3 years old and wasn't quite 30k to begin with. I only wish my IS300 held its value like that...
