2nd windshield cracks in two weeks

I had my original windshield crack two weeks ago. I was parked with my sunroof open on a hot day. It was the day after a track event. Had it replaced w/ a Lancer windshield (Evo ones were out of stock).

Spent the past two days at a track event, and sure enough, the new one cracked today. Just sitting in a parking lot the day after.

Sure someone could say it's from bringing the car to the track, but I can't believe the Evo isn't designed to handle this. I was there w/ Mazda's and VW's and AFAIK theirs didn't crack.

Any thoughts?
Don

dont be dumb it has nothing to do with the track you may have gotten a crappy windshield or a bad install which can cause a stress crack that in most glass companies will be covered by the warranty but then again you could have gotten hit by a rock which is not covered under warranty by any glass company. i know this cuz im an installer for a national glass company.

Yes, but all the searches I did in the forums said it's actually heavier. Only difference is the blue tint at the top and the way the rear view mirror mounts

I don't intend to bring up the track days. It could just be coincidence. I'm just wondering because in both cases it was in almost the same place (6" horizontal starting on the left A-pillar) and was the day after the track event.

Already have it. Cost isn't the issue. I'm just wondering if there's an underlying problem or just bad luck

the only place you will get a true evo windshield is from mitsu body else makes them due to the limited quantity of the evo not to mention if they did they would be extreamly expensive due to setup costs of making such a small production run.

look at your windshield, you can clearly see if anything hit it or if it's a stress crack... if it does happen to be a stress crack, take it back to the last company who changed it and there should be a warranty...

When you have the windshield out, check the area where it's breaking. Glass is real weak at the edge and if there is a sharp spot at the lip, it could be causing it. When the car is welded together, sometimes the spot welder will stick or blow-out a piece of steel and cause a point, this point can cause breakage with expansion.
Good luck.

Good luck.
that might be possible 30 years ago when humans welded cars together, but that doesn't happen anymore...

it is very possible that you got a rock chip from the track... sometimes they spread immediately and sometimes it takes weeks or years to spread...
