I am new to the forum. I sold my 2001 M3 vert and just bought a 2003 evo VIII. It will be delivered in a week or so. Here are the specs.

Some upgrades: HKS 272/272cams, HKS adjustable gears, HKS Exhaust system, AEM EMS, AEM UEGO, Tein type S spring, Cusco type II front strut bar, Cusco carbon fiber rear strut bar, Greddy 720cc injectors, Greddy boost gauge, Greddy turbo timer, Exedy Hyper-Single racing clutch kit, Lancer Shop shift bushing kit, Lancer Shop clutch-line kit, Project Mu brake pads, JDM MR rear tail lights, AMS blackout front lights, BuchurRacing Big Front Mounted Intercooler, BuchurRacing Upper and Lower Intercooler pipes kit, small battery kit, Volks Ce28N wheels and rays wheels nuts, 10k HID headlight system upgrade and some minor upgrades.

My tuner in Albuquerque says it should be the fastest EVO in New Mexico.

I am going to have it tuned for 91 octane (it is currently tuned for racegas/93 octane combo) and the Albuquerque altitude. I am also going to get an ipod adaptable stereo head.

Anyone think of other mods that I should look at?

The car has 11,000 miles.

Yes, get rid of the S-techs and buy some coil overs or better springs (better as in less drop in front)

Yeah. Mod your driving style. Seriously, take some time to get used to the car. An Evo with those kinds of mods has to be driven a certain way. Don't try to bend the car to meet your driving style or you will tear things up. The car will show you how to drive it if you know what to watch for.

sounds like some nice mods, the FASTEST in all of new mexico??? i think your looking at around 350(give or take) with those mods, maybe you should look into an upgraded turbo? maybe a 3071? you have all the supporting mods. do you have a fuel pump?

The seller of the car said it got 350 HP on pump gas (93 OCTANE) and 400 on race gas. I am planning on using it as a daily driver but I like fast cars so I am looking forwaqrd to this car.

As for the fastest in NM - NM is a small state so not a really big deal - I do not see very many of them around. I heard that speedlab is building one up for a guy with a big turbo so probably not the fastest for long.

Anyway - anybody think of anything that I should mod for a daily driver? I think a good tune should help.

Yea:

I really fell for the yellow. I like it because not everyone has one and it stands out. It is not for everybody. My favorite car that I ever owned was a 1977 yellow 280Z. I was drifting in that car back in the day before anybody knew what drifting was.

Congrats on your EVO purchase, the Yellow looks sick with those rims.. Nice!!
Anyway, great car you are leaving behind too. Now lets talk about your EVO.

The Mods that in my opinion will make the car fast are:

Injectors
HKS 272 CAMS,
AEM EMS stand alone
HKS Exhaust
Buschur FMIC with upper and lower pipes

Non power related but definately helps a lot:

Volk light weight rims
Clutch
short shifter
smal battery(saves weight)

In my opinion the larger Buschur Intercooler is not going to give you all the juice you are looking for until you really crank the boost up. The stocker intercooler does a great funtion, however the lowwer and upper pipes are a great aid.

As per the injectors, I definately would not have done it unless I am running crazy boost or bigger turbo. The tunning is your most important worry, you must get this HKS cams, fuel injectors, AEM EMS stand alone and air flow from the intercooler and intrecooler pipes all in the same note.

You can a faster car with a proper tune and less mods than a car with more mods and no tune. Good luck, I suggest Dynoflash.

I thought you were serious until I read your sig.

No really I plan to learn the car and baby it. It is my first AWD car. I like the EVo because if you know what you are looking at you are impressed. If you don't then I don't care. It's like I asked my friend with the new Mercedes SL how many horsepower it had and he said, "I don't know, it's not like I'm gonna race it." He is one of the guys that I expect not to be impressed.
