buying a used car is like hitting a jackpot, you either get a car that is a great deal or ones that made you wish you bought it new. I bought a used 03 with 15k miles for $25k, i haven't run into any problems, though I think i could've probably gotten it a cheaper if I waited. STI is a great car, it's just not as mod friendly as the evo. I would trade it in for a IX, that's what I plan to do next year.

03 Evo suck, You don't know what you are talking about i have 22k on mine with NO problems what so ever (stock clutch).

The 05 Evo is the same as an 03 Evo if you didn't know!!!!

Trade it. It sounds like you made up your mind already. They are both great cars and fun to drive. FYI, Subaru of Dallas has some new 05s with repaired hail damage for just over $29K.

Ah, not to be a d***, but 05's have some imporvements over the 03/04. I.e. they are faster stock v. stock.

FLSD, ACD, 10.5 T, more boost (yes, I said more, its slight, but there) and a more agressively tuned computer.

Even before I tuned mine it ran door to door with tuned (close to what I have done) 03's. Now I just kick the crap out of those.

Haha, that's amusing...

You've never heard of ACD or the front LSD? How about the improved wastegate to go with that 10.5 hotside that is pushing more boost from the factory (20.3psi)? Perhaps the aluminum roof (MR/RS) and side door beams?

05s are stronger out of the box and respond better to the same mods, as you can see by some of the threads in the Drag Racing forum...

you know... sometimes it pays to do your homework.

back on topic:

STI's are great cars. I think it's a much better "daily driver" than my Evo. I have 2 good friends with 05 STi's and everytime I drive their cars, I feel it's easier to live with daily. Also, for long drives.... damn... that cruise control is just too damn nice to not have in our Evos. It would be my only choice, IF I coudn't stay with the Evo.

Agree, but back to the original commend. The 05 should not more reliable than 03's.

I think it really depends on how you treat any car. I have had good luck with my 03. The 05's seem to be going for quite a bit more money. I think if you like the STI go for it. Just try to get a new one. I personally would not buy a used EVO or STI unless I knew the person had taken care of it properly. The 05's do have a few things up on the 03's, but it is kind of fun battling with the wheel when each side struggles for traction in 2nd (no LSD).
