Vent...mo money, mo problems.
Whats up guys, just thought Id vent a lil bit I'm so damn frusrated. So me and my problematic '03 evo aren't the best of friends right now. In the last week I've installed a buschur delux FMIC with lower piping, a walbro, some injectors, new plugs and re routed my boost controller. Sweet, should be a beast now with the 280s and 20 psi right? HELL NO. I started having a massive boost leak so i built a tester to find it, it was so big the damn gauge wouldn't even hold 1 psi. Anyway I was up all night last night after work started around 11 and had to come to work today at 6 so Im a little perturbed. Those two bolts on the turbo outlet flange to the BR LIC pipe are SO HARD TO TIGHTEN!!!! I mean, you CANNOT over tighten one a quarter turn than the other and the position you're in its so hard to regulate force with the socket wrench and removing the starter and wastegate and blah blah. Anyway I started the car to see if i had found the boost leak and did NOT touch my MBC so it was still on the previos setting where it boosted to about 19 - 20 psi, it was only boosting 6psi and full boost was coming on way too late, Im at my wits end and I'm about to just take the damn thing to turbotrix and get them to sort it out or something. BR PLEASE make those bolts easier to tighten or find a way to taper the pipe a bit so you can get a socket around them, and sorry for making you guys read this.
I have the AMS lower IC pipe, and didnt have the mess you are going thru, are you "tackling" this problem from underneath? It is easy and dont have to remove anything. I had a leak once when my clamps appeared on all the way around but in the back out of view it was off. You'll get it, I know its frustrating as hell, take a deep breath and re-install it!

Thanks man. I think I've got the leak issue sorted out since i reinstalled the entire pluming system yesterday minus the IC itself. Anyways, If its leaking Ill just buy some silicone and do it again. I just need a better MBC i guess. Thanks man.
Get the lower IC pipe, take a flat edge and put it accross the flange. You will see it warped. Its nothing you did, 99.9 percent of those pipes have warped flanged. Its from welding the pipe on and not facing it after. Exagerated you have a flange that is shapped like a U .. Nothing you do or how much you tighten it will it sit right. Normally it will make a whistling noise

P.S. good luck

damn right, I owe alot to the people on this forum thanks alot guys. And mark you WILL be seeing my happy *** soon!. But regarding the boost leak, if you can't duct it...f*ck it.
Those bolts are a pain in the ***. My BR lower pipe was leaking after a clutch installment. NOt sure what the installer did. It was a pain for me to get that thing back again and even now I believe it could be slightly leaking (warped) which could explain why my car doesn't pull as hard as before. I end up striping the hole and had to retap. I couldn't get the starter off so had to use a swivel. It was tight but works pretty well.
NO offense to BR but that lower pipe needs to be redesign.
Good luck!

^Yeah, I'm about to untill I can take my BR to a grinder. Its such a nice piece I'd hate to just not use it but Got damn I almost stripped the bolts trying to get those f*ckers back on. And this way I can De-splice my Intake mani line and run my Boost controller back to the way it was WOOHOO! You guys are life savers.
Edit: I'll take some pics of the flange with a straight edge on it for posterity and compare it to the stocker and see if Dave or Jarrod will comment. I love their stuff so I'm sure it'll get sorted out before they even see it. Lets just hope their doing well at the shootout this weekend.

Problem with that lower br pipe is that it sits to close to the wastegate... You either have to bend the wastegate bracket or add washers to bring that puppy out a bit...
If your trying to install that pipe and the wastegate is touching it ,when you tighten the pipe to the flange it will warp because of the wastegate not letting it have a proper seal...
Ive read about this before my install and no leaks, and very happy with there pruducts,I do agree they need to redesign it so its not so close to the WG.

update
Well, I got around to trying to replace the buschur turbo outlet pipe with the stocker but that wouldn't work due to the design of the rest of the lower piping. I bent the bracket for the wastegate and thats no longer a problem for me. But i CANNOT tighten those bolts evenly on the turbo flange its rediculous! Its so frustrating you tighten one 1/16 more of a turn than the other you wont be able to get a socket around it and theres no way to use a wrench. This blows and Im not a happy camper I wish they would taper the pipe down a bit to a smaller diameter just 1/10 of an inch at most where it connects to the flange would be stellar so I could get a socket around it or something. Its rediculous! No pics though, wasn't able to take any.
last thing to try is get a cheap socket from autozone and using a grinding wheel take material off the socket so the diameter will be smaller.
or get a really thin wall socket....
just an idea.

^Thin walled socket eh? My knowledge of tools is reudamentary at best, I will be heading to sears today no doubt. If not, I get to use my dremel so I'll be happy.
