My car passes emissions and uses the stock cat too. ^.^

Actually that's exactly what I would call a street car. Must have all features that it came with off showroom floor, run pump gas, and be driven on a regular basis. Just because it can be driven on the street, doesn't make it street driven

Um interesting, fastest street driven is hard to say, but pretty much almost every EVO on my list can be driven on the streets. Just because it's not driven on the streets everyday, doesn't mean it's not street driven. If I spent a butt load of money on my car, I'd barely ever drive it on the streets too, just get a beater car to do that. Also full interior? Some EVOs don't have AC or unnecessary items to save weight, they still can be driven on the streets. There are plenty of EVOs that can run on the streets and run amazing times (most of the cars on this list fit the street driven category)-

Fantastic.
This is great. It includes every evo out there. Thank you so much.
I also was not aware of the fastest evo being 8.6
That is some great info.
Thanks again. Now we know where everyone is at.

Most of those "Quasi" race cars can be driven on the street, but there is a big difference between those "race gas VP116/VP Import" times vs what they would run on regular pump gas.

They are streetable, but can only produce that kind of power on race gas, but that is the nature of the beast.

Interesting list, and one that misses a whole slew of Evos that I would consider "faster" ... as in faster on a road course or rally, which is what the Evo was designed for in the first place. My "fastest" Evo list would start with:

Robi's Evo
Vishnu Evo (2004 OLA car, now sold to ???)
AMS Evo in Road Racing trim (2005 OLA car)

I'm sure there's more (several Muellerized Evo's come to mind), but I can't think of their names right now ... and of course the slew of Group N WRC Evos (though I'm not sure if any of them qualify as streetable anymore)

Very Good Point.
That is the reason I bought my car, not for drag racing. But it seems that you get sucked into it once you start heavily modifying the power output of this car.

I understand your view point, but seriously why hate? Why limit the EVO to what you think it can or cannot do, or to what you think it was and wasn't created for. Honestly, and I have said this a million times and really wish people would start to listen, is that the beauty of the EVO is that it is good at many things. It is a very capable car on the drag strip, just as it is on a road course, autocross, or rally event. If your not a fan of drag racing, than that is fine, the beauty of the EVO is that there is so many other options you can choose from. Also designed for? What do you mean? Were you part of the design team members who created the EVO VIII and the previous generations? Didn't think so.

I don't believe there was any hate in his post. He was merely taking the question from a different perspective than most others have in this thread. He never said anything bad about drag racing, just that his qualifications for "fastest evos" consist of road course/autocross ability. And as far as what the car was designed for, it most certainly was not designed for drag racing. I'm not saying it can't do it, but you would have a much harder time convincing someone that the designers sat down and said "Lets make a fast drag car based on our rally car" than you would arguing that they said "Lets make a car base on our rally car that can perform well on a road course." Naturally, they would have said this in Japanese. Of course, the car is very impressive on both the drag strip and the road course, but in stock form is much more impressive on the road course than it is on the drag strip (my opinion, of course).

Hai!

I have nothing against drag racing (I just don't do it with my Evo), and a portion of road racing is drag racing of a sorts, afterall. However the original post said street driven, and in my experience a well tuned road racing car is often times a better street car than a car setup only for 1/4 mile racing, because for road racing you need to have good throttle response at partial throttle as well as WOT, which generally means you need a better overall tune. The other reason I brought up my original point is that (except for maybe the clutch) a road racing car has to handle a lot more abuse. I'd be willing to bet that the average 1/4 mile car will give up the ghost long before Robi's Evo would when driven at 10/10ths.

Of course the beauty of the Evo is that it does pretty much everything well. From drag racing to road racing, rallying and being the fastest grocery getter in town.

Your not going to cure your missfire by changing your plugs. 03's have an updated reflash P0300 fix. Mitsu knows theres a problem and it doesnt lie with your plugs. However when you get it sorted out, run a BPR8ES, You want to run as cold a plug as you can without fouling.. To hot of a plug will cause pre-ignition conditions.. Oh and .030 is way to much for an evo ... .022 - .025 will work just fine.
