EBC - looks cool can have preset boost levels for different rpms
cost alot

MBC- Cheap compared to ebc. very reliable
ghetto but works , one less flashy light computer for the cockpit

I like the idea of being able to adjust the gain with the EBC.

MBC's are a lot more reliable, the ams evo blew the head gasket because the ebc shot the boost to 34 pounds when it was set for 24. this is only one instance but i don't want to find out the hard way.
just my 2cents.

I vote for MBC, I just can't trust the valve solenoid on an EBC, eventually they give out and you can run the risk of over boosting. The Hallman has an option of getting adjusted from inside the cabin.

you can do the same with a mbc.

IMHO I wouldn't waste my money on a MBC eventually you will want to either turn your boost up or down. The MBC is a pain in the neck to get tuned right while the EBC can be done on the fly quickly and safely...

If you are worried about overboosting because of a faulty boost solenoid on the EBC then you might want to do your home work and ask around for a reliable type of EBC. I have had one in my 1991 Twin Turbo 300ZX for years now with zero problems (Apexi AVC-R).

The problem with the MBC is that as the temps and atmospheric conditions change you are not able to easily adjust the boost controller to stay in a safe margin.

If money is the issue show some patience and safe up for the EBC...

Just my .02 cents

Not true, Hallman has a MBC that is easily adjusted from inside the car.

I;ve had both MBC and now have EBC via a Vishnu Xede Computer. I say if all you are planning on doing is using a form of boost controller to barely tweet boost and maybe get rid of some of the taper a Hallman Pro MBC is the way to go...i had one and had it set to 20 psi..it held that all the way to redline.

On the other hand the Xede is more effective because it has a lot of other tuning things related to it which is why I replace the MBC with that form of EBC.

I personally wouldn;t spend alot of money on an EBC that only controls boost....yeah it looks cool and might have a couple features to switch between boost levels, but it does basically the same thing the MBC does in that case....if you want a cheap way to control boost from the cockpit the halman pro has an option so that you can do that.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I have heard of that one. How much is that option (with the controller)? What is the total cost of both?

I have, Apexi AVC-R on the Z and Blitz SBi-D on the EVO. Both operate meticulously.

There are three kits. One is 150, one is 165. Those both come with the MBC and the in-cabin adjuster. There is also the in-cabin adjuster sold serperately as an add on which is 60.

Those are very cost effective and a good alternative to someone trying to save money. I still enjoy the EBC's.

Good luck to all concerned on your choice of either an EBC or MBC.
