I know this is a newb question but can somebody tell me what the difference is between these years evos? like does the 03 have defects? is the 05 better etc. all input is appreciated

I dont think the 03s have any defects from the factory, lol. The newer models do get in cabin filters, rock chip protectors on rear, bigger hotside turbo, and a little more boost (boost really doesent matter cause im sure most of the EVOs out there are modded). As for the 05s being better I still think its basically the same car and in a couple years they will experience all the problems any other EVO owner has ever had. IMO as long as you take car of your car it doesent matter if its a 03 or a 05 it will last as long as you want it too.

There are no differences in all the Evo 8's in the use power wise. Only the MR, and the RS(stipper model) has the aluminum roof, while the Evo 8 is a steel roof. HID are optional on the EVO 8 but you have to buy the SSL(sound, sunroof, leather) package. The MR is the only one with a six speed trans, BBS rims, and the vortex generator.

 

The regular Evo 8 *is* the GSR. That's just another name.

The RS is the lightweight, stripped model.

The MR is the 6-spd top of the line model.
