It's not necessary to change the oil in the ACD unit. If you get air into the system you will have to take the car to the dealership to have them purge the system of any air or the ACD unit will not operate properly and it’ll go into limp mode, all 3 lights will light up and no ACD....

The ACD pump uses the oil to apply hydraulic pressure to the clutch pack that is located in the center diff, similar to the way an automatic apply pressure to the clutch pack...

There should be no reason to mess with the ACD oil because it doesn't get dirty and it moves the piston less than 10mm. Very little heat is generated in this system and changing it all the time would be similar to changing your power steering fluid all the time.

I bought mine in March and got the 3yr/45mile maintenance. The dealer said that it was done but Mitsubishi sent me the literature. Maybe my cars build date is what decided it? Not sure, but I do have it.

Transfer case fluids should be changed every 10,000 miles. The ACD every 15,000 miles. Just to let you know if you call service they will tel you every 30,000 miles. But all the professional shop say it's important to change them earlier depending on driving habits.

Hey for the Evo you got to pay to play

If you do not change the fluids once a year, it will effect your Evo's performance in the times to come.

thanks for the info everyone

do you guys think i should trade my 04 8 in for a 05 rs? do you guys think its worth it?

somethings wrong with my evo don't know if its the t-case or clutch i think its the clutch i do hear howling a little bit in the lower gears but i have too really ride the clutch from a stop in first to get it going not even trying to go fast or anything if i don't ride the clutch it just boggles around intill the rpms go up a little and it not smooth what you guys think?

so instead of me replaceing the clutch or t-case i was going to trade the car in i went in once and they offered me $22,500 how much more will it go down when the 9's come out?

do you guy think i should trade it in now before the 9's come out? trade in value seemed pretty low i don't want it to drop anymore and then get it

i'm pretty sure that i want to stick with the evo but i was think a lot about the s2000 i use to have a 350z i loved it but you could not drive in the snow at all even with snow tires i think i can get away with the snow thing with the s2000 because of the amount of torque
but i was think about how reliable the s2k is i know honda is reliable but what about the s2k it is still a high performance car i heard they have the best 6 speed

the z seemed pretty reliable what do you guys think is more reliable z/s2k as in engine wise i loved that 3.5 liter v6 a lot of torque or 2.2 liter 7500 rpm limit i know nothing about this engine i know it use to be 2.0 with 9000 rpm rev limit can somebody tell me a thing or too about the s2k engine like how reliable it is? does it compare with the vq 3.5

Ok well a DSM/EVO transmission specialist just came on and said this:

You've gotta be kidding me right?!?! ... unless you are made out of money or have a money tree sitting in your back yard ... I think its fool hardy to trade an 04 for an 05 ... but if thats what you really want and don't mind taking the hit, go right ahead ....

If you feel there is something wrong with your car, why aren't you taking it to the dealership to have them take a look at it and fix the possible problem ???

All the engines you mentioned are super reliable if you take proper care of them ...
the EVO 4G63 is boosted but suffers from turbo lag as you know
the Nissan VQ35 has a higher displacement thus has a nice torque band but doesn't rev very high
the Honda S2K 2L in the (00-02) reved ridiculously high for vtec to kick in
the Honda S2K 2.2L in the (03-05) still revs very high for vetc to kick in, although it is lower than the pre 03 models and has slightly higher torque due to higher displacement from stroking the bottom end....

Anyways do what ever makes you happy .....

Well The only reason you should trade your Evo in is to upgrade to the ACD and front limited slip. Performance wize the RS is above the 2004 Evo VIII and handles 2 times better. I was even considering trading mine in for a 05 RS. I still might do it.
