Trouble with Greddy Profec b II
Trouble with Greddy Profec b II
My car seems to be running rich and the boost use to spike but after setting the gain and set gain a little lower it stopped the boost spikes, but not i have the boost going up and down on high boost. When it hits around 22 pounds it starts to go lower and back up. Any idea on how to fix this problem?
I never had a problem untill my friend did something and then its been crappy ever since..
Also if anyone knows where i can d/l the manuel i would really appreciate it thanks

dont worry about the manuel i got it off of greddy themselves i just need help understand whats going on, im reading the manual now so i can figure it out myself. But any help is always appreciated
ok i believe i figured it out, the limiter on my car is set on L.20, having the limiter on means that It will lower te entered % from the SET boost valve duty rate to lower the boost.
So basically im going to set that back to 0% so it doesnt do that anymore, but at least i understand now that i need to adjust the set, gain, and set gain. Im figuring this out my own it seems. Lol i guess reading the manual sometimes help lol

thanks for the back up tsurara, we arnt full of money, all my money usually goes into this car and thats mostly payments. Im lucky enough to be able to mod the damn car a little bit. Some people dont realize that some people cant afford more expensive things because of their budget.. We arnt all rich boys and girls. We work for a damn living.
Ill post up my results in a little bit, i fixed up my car a lil bit but the thing is i cant boost 22 anymore without the car spiking.

First order of business, throw away the instructions - they are off, something got lost in the translation.
there is actually two ways you can set boost on this unit.
In the boost display (unit defaults to this) mode, turning the dial on the right will up the duty cycle of the boost solenoid. Press in on the dial to set it to memory.
Hitting mode will bring up gain function. Increasing this number will increase boost, but it's real function is to control the sensativity of the solenoid. Remember, press IN on the knob to commit the setting to memory.
Pressing mode again will bring up "set gain", which is the start boost feature. The wastegate will be held closed until it reaches the number you set this value to. Set this number fairly close to the target boost, again by turning the dial and pressing in. I got my best results by setting it .10 to .20 kpa below my target boost, but you can play with it a bit. The goal here is to hold it as close to target boost as possible, without spiking past your target boost.
The next function (the display should turn red) is the overboost limit setting. This number represents your upper threshold of boost - a number you do not wish to exceed. This is handy, as setting this function up correctly eliminates you having to adjust for overboost due to weather conditions. If boost reaches this level, it will give you an audible beep, and the display will turn red. You should set this slightly above your target boost, I set mine about .07 kpa above my target boost. Again, set it using the dial, pressing in to commit it to memory.
Pressing mode again will get you to the overboost reduction setting (display will remain red). This setting determines how much duty cycle of the boost solenoid to reduce when over boost happens. I set mine to -4% using the dial. If you set this number too high, you will have excessive boost fluctuations. Too low and it may not bring the boost down far enough.
The next function is highest boost recorded. You can reset this by pressing the dial in and holding til it beeps.
Pressing mode one last time will bring you to turn on or off the last boost display. Turning this on (by turning the dial) will display the last highest boost you achieved every time you go back into vaccum. Pretty handy, especially when setting boost levels.
That's pretty much it, pretty easy to use once it's explained to you.
I posted this on another board and many found it to be pretty handy, considering the instruction manual for use is plain wrong. Hope it helps
