you are supposed to wrap the belts around the bar and then tighten them in the metal buckle that came with the belts....take a look at this -> http://www.gforce.com/pdf/harnessinstall.pdf

I have the harnesses with the Sparco bar. Which version of the harnesses did you get? Did you get the long or short one? Let me know.

You start by making out your last will and testament, then buying the best life insurance policy you can afford. On second thought, you can skip the life insurance...they won't pay up anyway since suicide isn't covered.

For anyone else who's considering installing these tuner belts into their car:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...6&page=1&pp=50

Either go all the way (roll cage, fixed-back seats, 3" wide 6-point camlock belts, disabled airbags) or stick with completely stock. The combination of stock seats, harness bar, and 2" wide 4-point tuner belts is a recipe for disaster.

Please listen to this guy.

If you have harnesses in a car without a rollbar, and you do in fact roll the car the harnesses will hold you upright against the seat and the roof will collapse down on you, since you cannot slouch to the inside of the car like the stock belts allow, you will either be decapitated or have serious head/back injury.

On another note, if you have harnesses in a car without a seat that accepts 5 point harnesses (read- the stock seat) then during a head on collision your body will slide down under the lap belt, which will then travel up into your gut and under your rib cage, breaking ribs and causing internal bleeding. The same goes for having a 4 point harness in any type of setup.

In short, either do it correctly with a 5/6 point harness, fixed back racing seat, and roll bar, or don't do it at all.

The width isn't the major concern. The main problem is that this is a 4-point design. There's a VERY good reason why 4-point harnesses have been outlawed by every race sanctioning body in the world for over 30 years.

Read what happened to the passenger in the link I posted: she slid completely under the harness and into the footwell. She's lucky to be alive. Usually when that happens you'll rupture your liver, spleen, and/or bowel mesentery. Say goodnight.

BTW, using a harness bar with stock seats and no roll protction adds a whole other dimension of danger to what you're doing. Do a search and read how the former director of the COMSCC died when his 'Vette went backwards into a wall. Remember that your stock seats are DESIGNED to collapse in certain types of impacts (and not just rollovers). It would suck to have a steel rod behind your neck when that happens.
