Al, doesn't running it that rich negate any gains from the alky?

is there anyway to put a gauge to monitor alky pressure when its active, this way you would now if its not working right

No - it does not as tyou are running more boost and timing.

Rich plus advanced timing = super low egts and no knocing with the alcohol.

Remember when running alcohol it has a lower ideal ratio trhan gas so when combined with gas the ideal a/f is lowered slightly.

A pressure light is included in the unit - only comes on when the unit reaches about 70 psi - BUT - you DO have to watch it on occassion !

Yes it does. To see the best gains from methanol injection, you need to inject A LOT of it under boost. With no changes to fueling, the AFR will be so rich that it will barely run. You will then need to yank out 20-30% fuel to compensate so that AFRs go to around 11:1. You can then add in several degrees of timing across the board and raise the boost several PSI. On the last car that we tuned (turbo magazine's Project EVO), we ended up gaining 60whp on our DD dyno. That's close to 80whp on a Dynojet Of course, we used the XEDE to switch maps. The next step, of course, is now to develop a software update to induce a fuel cut when the AFR goes lean (which is what happens when the Methanol injection fails. This, IMHO, is the only way to actively take precaution against this very real shortcoming.

The amount of fuel that needs to be taken out is directly related to the jet size of the alcohol kit. I have been playing with the alcohol kit jetting for some timne and we are about 1/3 the amount of alcohol that we were once injecting. This reduction was mostly for saftey reasons.

Just for reference - by personal evo which runs the latest revision Buschur Racing Alcohol kit exactly as I sell it to the customers, runs a very rich 11.1 / 1 a/f just like I tune my customers Evos and I am now making 690 whp max and went 9.98 in the 1/4 mile.

From my experience leaning out the a/f by half a point to 11.5 is worth less than 10 - 15 whp with the stock turbo.

am i lucky i didn't grenade the motor????
You are extremely lucky....

Is it possible that Shiv is simply running leaner with more timing than Al?

Therefor making more power but still sacraficing that safety margin?
