Alcohol kit... Am I lucky or what???
Well i just realized i've was running my car without the alky kit working.
i was on my way to an autox event when my boost gauge stopped working. i just thought a line came off and thought no biggie. well i was right. the boost line came off where the alky kit controller tees off. which means the alky wasn't spraying. i ran the whole event, with co-driver (16 runs or more total) with my boost set at 25lbs. never heard any pinging. but to me the car felt slower.
am i lucky i didn't grenade the motor????

Seriously though, it was David Buschur who showed me the way to set up the alcohol tunes so that IF the alcohol fails you will have enough gas to keep you alive - not a sure fire thing but a saftey net of some sort.
I always use crazy clue on all alcohol injection fitting lines and hoses to prevent any possible hose comming off

What boost do you normally run without the alky kit?
Me too. Crazy glue works great for hoses. You have to use a flat head screw driver to get them off though, but they hold like a SOB.

Wow... your lucky. Depending on the size of the jet you are runnning, a clog/depletion/etc,. will result in hoffifyingly lean AFRs under full boost. Making matters worse is that I've seen these engines still run, full boost, as lean as 15:1 while still making enough power to not draw attention to itself (until it blows up, of course).
I've seen this problem reported more than once on this forum. Low level/pressure warning lights can help. But they are only as useful as they are visible in direct sunlight. Heck, I've even seen those fail as well.
Today, Shiv and I were developing a new feature on the SMART Xede. The idea is to induce a MAF cut if AFR (read from the wideband o2 sensor in the SMART upgrade package) is leaner than X:1 AFR for longer than Y seconds. We're just working on X and Y now

I try to set up the alcohol tunes so they are rich enough that if the system fails the car is still having enough fuel not to blow up. We have down sized the jet sizes also so that less fuel correction is needed.
