Get it checked out it may put you in limp mode which isn't any fun.

it did not put me in limp mode the car felt just like always it just threw a check engine light.

the cause of this is because a chevy truck tried to race me on the way home from work today, but i did not want a part of it, but it was either speed up to pass him or slow down and get behind due to traffic, so i passed him. well i guess he thought that i was going to race and he gave it all that he could, well by the time he had passed me his truck was smoking so bad and shhoting oil everywhere that it was ridiculus, well him being in front of me i got oil all over my car and then is when the light came on. i hate rednecks in southeast texas!!!

Diesel?

Could have thrown a few different codes, none that I would think are bad. My guess is that the computer read the intake as super dirty air and then threw the light. And if the car isnt in limp home mode then it most likely is ok. Get it checked and cleared if you have the time or reset it yourself to turn off the light (neg. bat. disconnect).

just out of curiosity, how do you tell if your car is in limp home mode, and why does it go into that mode? I read of it happening in a mag once becuase the turbo was surging, don't know any other reasons though.
