gains worth the $$$??

I am trying to decide if the gains are worth the money if I get a cat-back exhaust, (looking at the HKS) and a boost controller. Will the gains be noticable? how much more hp would I gain from this? Also what would be the proper setting for boost?? THANKS

A cat-back will be worth the money if you DON'T get HKS, but rather a much cheaper unit that gives the same HP gains along with great fitment.

An MBC is a great mod regardless of vendor, but be ABSOLUTELY SURE you get a boost gauge at the same time. Do not install the MBC without a boost gauge.

You can expect 15-20whp from the cat-back and maybe another 20whp from the MBC. The thing with the MBC is it doesn't just give you a peak boost increase, but it also removes some of the factory boost taper on the top end, so you gain significant HP across the entire powerband.

A nice difference. Catback, with intake and boost controller, and tune. Atleast 30whp.

trust me, its still a big gain on the 03,04 models. I got 30whp gain with a catback, intake, and tune, no boost controller. Car was tuned by Al.

You don't even need a catback, just get and axelback exhaust (muffler or muffler delete pipe). They run $125-200 dollars.

There are 3 "major" restrictions in the stock exhaust:
1) Turbo housing
2) Catalytic Converter
3) Muffler

buschur racing full turbo back exhaust. the HKS is just not worth the money. I had the apexi N1 on my gsx cause it was pretty much (except at the o2 housing) 3" but the N1 for the evo is like 2.5". The HKS will be the same or less efficent as the BR one and cost more.
