Evo Noises

Hey guys, Im a few weeks away from getting an evo.. and I just had a couple questions regarding the evo before any final decisions are made.

First off.. I am having a REAL hard time choosing a color. I will most likely NOT be getting a brand new one.. so I don't exactly have all of the evo colors as options. In my area most of the evos for sale are either Silver, Red, or Black. My two main choices have been silver, and blue. Now seeing as there isn't a single blue one for sale (used)... I guess I am left with silver. I guess what I am asking is.. what color do you guys prefer on the evo? Obviously your probably going to choose the color you have.. but Im just looking for some opinions (even tho its up to me ). So should I just stick with silver and get one as soon as I can, or wait it out and wait for a blue one? I think I like both of them about the same.

Secondly.. I know the evo is a car that doesn't exactly make bumps in the road feel like nothing .. but i've read that it is a bumpy, and rough ride in the evo and that it makes noises (im guessing rattles and stuff).. is that true? Obviously every car is gonna have its rattles, and stuff.. but its nothing too severe is it?

Any other helpful things, or ANYTHING about the evo I should know about, or whatever, feel free to post it.

Thanks guys!

2 quick answers:

1) Do not ask others for color choices...that's all you. No reason to ask that whatsoever.
2) Read your sig. That answers the questions about the rough ride and noises. I won't call either "severe," but if you want this car, those things are of no concern.

I do agree with Warrtalon, but if you are too concerned about colours. I would either go for 1st. Red or 2nd Black. Finitoo.

The ride in an Evo is nowhere near as bad as any lowered civic or integra. Frankly, I don't know what the big deal is with everyone saying the ride in an evo is rough. What were they driving before, a Buick? Maybe it's just me, but I don't really think it rides rough at all.

my evo rides better than my prelude. bit rougher than volvo 960. a lot smoother than bmw 530 (except for speed bumps)

and if you're getting it used, should buy the best car, not the best color.

but don't get the silver, they not only look dull in stock form, they're everywhere.

Ditto on the ride quality. You do feel a lot more of the road than in other cars, but that's part of the appeal of the Evo, IMO. The stiff suspension is not a problem. I've driven mine on a couple of lengthy trips and it was not uncomfortable at all.

As far as noises, there are a few more than you would hear on, let's say, a brand new Honda Accord. Specifically, the transmission is a bit louder, you can definitely hear the engine during acceleration, and road noise is noticeable. Also, there's some brake grind that can be heard as your coming to a stop. I have the SSL option, and the sunroof doesn't rattle at all.

Overall, I'd say that the car is about average when it comes to comfort. It's not anywhere near as bad as I thought it woud be, and makes a great daily driver. Whatever is sacrificed in comfort and luxury is more than compensated for by performance and overall appeal.

Finally, I have the Electric Blue. It's awesome. If you like the blue, you can find one used. You might have to travel to get it, or have it shipped, but I say get what you'll be happy with.

Color wise black ALWAYS looks good (just a ***** to keep clean and stay clean). I got Silver cause I'm lazy and it can be pretty dirty and still look somewhat clean, ya know?

Ride quality, bleh. I don't mind it at all really. I feel like I'm actually driving. I just wish the engine was quiter cause it makes me paranoid.

the color is totally up to you man. if it were me id get another white one.
i dont find the ride nearly as harsh as i thought i was going to. also, as far as noises go, there are a few interior creaks, i think my seat ocasionally rubs the armrest and makes noise.. the engine of course, sometimes the tranny, and def. the breaks here and there. i also had a odd noise while i was breaking it in at different rpms, but it has gone away.i have the ssl and no sunroof rattles either. thats about it

1) That's all you man. But if you love cleaning your car get a black one!

2) You do feel the bumps, but that's good. You always have plenty of feekback from the road.

Color: pick the one you like best.
Ride: the ride is only "rough" at low speeds; at higher speeds the suspension works beautifully.

Thanks for the replies guys, just what I wanted to know. I didn't think that it would be that bad of noises and stuff, so thats good.

Colors... I DO like the blue a lot. But like I said, there aren't any within 100 miles of my zip code on autotrader. I think there might however be 1-2 within 300 miles of my zip..

I like the black.. especially with some bronze/gold wheels, tints, etc. or all blacked out. However, it would get dirty quick, and plus scratches show real easy as compared to silver, or white, along with streaks when u waxed/clean the car. Don't get me wrong tho, I DO like black.. a lot.

1) Blue
2) Black
3) Silver

Is how my list of colors goes at this moment, even tho I will probably end up with a silver one.

Sure. I didn't know signatures were such a big deal. Sorry for putting something there that I thought was cool, and a good idea. But its gone now.
