Yes that is besides the fact you would have to pay for shipping (many $k), then post a $47000 bond while it is imported, and then it would not be street legal. If you want it legal your RI would then have to fit emmissions by removing the AYC, put the same US front bumper on, and change the doors.
By that time you will have a nice $40k+ US spec machine!

not bad on price.but if you want to bring it here and get it legalized you are going to have to get it converted to LHD.and EI is the only one who has the rights to get the car legalized.just like Motore w/the skylines.Or unless you are bringing it over for OFF ROAD use.you can keep it RHD.i think my years end they will be making LHD EVO 8 GSr
EI doesn't have the rights yet.... ahahahahahaha.

No one has any "rights" to the car. Any RI could import any car, even a Skyline. Motorex is not exclusive by some law or first dibs.
What they did is crash test the car, and only they know what needs to be done to pull the car into compliance. Since they won't share that secret, that keeps them pretty much exclusive, unless someone else wanted to dish out a bunch of money.
Same goes for EI and the RI they use.
No one is allowed to monopolize anything though.

Regardless of the convertion to make it US street legal, you still have to deal with many other different fees. Like TearItUp said, the shipping, you also have to pay the Japanese documents fee, local shipping to the port. In addition, the import tax you have to pay when the car hit the US port, let alone the 150% bond you're putting down....not financially feaseable IMO...
Hailz!
Since I have a deposit on a JDM EVO VIII from E.I., I would be very interested to hear of any reasons why I should not complete my transaction with them.
Has anyone not been able to register a car purchased from E.I.?
Are there any other things I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance for giving me some FACTS... not B.S.
