Ok, the steering is very tight, very quick response from the turbo, stiff ride, the interior feels very good, but interior noise level is quite loud.

Loud as in how? Clunky, bumpy from the road, rattling from inside? Also I just wanted people to know that I'm glad Mitsu is being serious about this car. They really are training their staff on the car and making sure things are treated right. Today when I went to see it one of the techs was moving the car and decided to rev the engine for whatever reason. Two people immediately started yelling at him to stop and gave him a "you can't do that" speech. That made me happy to see them correcting those that disrespect the car and customers.

very quick response from the turbo??? They let you give it boost? Or was that just the slight turbo feel from just cruising? You arent making this stuff up are you??

A question to everyone without making a new thread... How is everyone going to treat the first 600 miles of thier car. The article says to keep it under 5k rpms till 600 miles.. for everyone buying a car are you going to keep to there recommendation of 5k rpms or lower?... or who will be crazy and just go nuts.. i am keeping mine under 5krpms but debating if i should keep it lower.

Most motor break ins are under 4K rpms. I was kind of surprised to see 5K rpms especially on a car that redlines at like 7K. Personally I will be keeping it under 4-4.5K rpms most of the time while fluctuating it up and down around that number with 5K being the peak. It's never good to drive a constant speed while breaking in the motor for long periods of time. Long being like 10 minutes or more. City driving really is the best for motor break in. It will hit a wide range on the rpm band and work the motor in every joint. I'm debating on whether or not to go 1000 miles doing this or not. 600 miles is a pretty short break in period. Most cars are around 1000 or more. I'm still curious to see a side by side comparison of a car that was broken in properly and one that wasn't.

I have a lead foot but I'm going to try and start off right. I intend to keep the car for 5 years or more unless something better comes along around that timeframe.

Sorry about the delay, by noisey I ment that there is alot of road noise this is due to the fact that there is no sound insulation on the fire wall. By quick responce, yes I did give it boost I drive it alone, for a five mile loop near my dealership and had it up to 70mph. The car seems to accel better if you shift sooner say 4500 than if you hold off and shift at say 6000. They don't have a boost guage so I could not give you full boost reading.

That's comforting to hear that the car is being brought up to 6000 rpms during the PDI.

I'm guessing at 4500rpms you're feeling the kick of the boost again making it seem like it's accelerating faster. Shifting like that on a track I guarentee would garner slower times as opposed to shifting closer to redline.

How does the shifter feel? I was told it will shift smoother and easier when the car warms up. When I played with the shifter just sitting in it it felt nice going from gear to gear. When I wiggled it back and forth in neutral it hit a lot of snags and felt awkward. How is it while in motion?

Rooster, what dealership let you drive this EVO?? I see you're from socal.....i've pretty much checked with every dealer in so cal and the EVO's are either not there or under lock and key. The people that bought them arent even allowed to pick them up until tomorrow at most dealers.

Dont blame me for being cynical, but are you telling the truth???

That's terrible, if I have more than 10 miles on the car at the dealership they can forget it, when I bought the eclipse it had 70, and I was pissed, and I wasn't waiting for them to get another.

Most people I know that buy new cars including myself have seen around 10 miles on the car at pickup. I guess they do the 5 mile road check and then the other 5 miles they fart around in it to get gas When I asked about it they said oh we took it out to fill up the tank for you. WTF? There's a gas station less than 1/2 a mile away. I expect someone to mistreat my Evo before I get it. I don't think there's much any of us can do about it.
