Ask Newton to go figure it out and get back with us when he does please.

The parking brakes does not use the pads. There is a second set of "drum brakes" in the rear rotors.

Exactly. I might have to adjust my parkbrake because that thing gets really high in the air 2 keep the car stoped.

My rear brake pads also wore out first. Specifically the inside pad. While the front may take most of the braking forces, the rear pads are much smaller and may be made of a different compound. It isn’t straight Newton with these things it has more to do with the engineering decisions that went into the car. I’ve got 48000 miles on my car and the fronts still have a good deal of life left in them. I changed the rears to DS2500s at about 28000 miles. When I took my fronts out to look at them a few months ago I did see the tops and bottoms of the pads appeared to have a 45 degree shear plane broken off about 0.5” from each end. I thought that was a bit odd.

Best wishes,
F86sabre

I too, noticed the same thing on my front pads the other day when I changed them, in addition to also noticing that the shims were missing.

some say the rear pads wear quicker because it has a softer compound then the front.

my rear went out too first. a lot quicker then the front ones. I think it's my braking style.

but i guess if you could find a deal for both front and rear pad, it might be cheaper for you that way.

otherwise, hawk pads are relatively cheap.

were those the factory brakes that was missing the shims and broke off?

that's not good...

hmmmmm. So many opions......It was looking like the fronts only at first, but the further I read it seems that the rears may need it......I guess I will have to check which ones need it first....I know one of them needs it because my brake light is comming one, and every day it stays on a little bit longer than the day before....

Has anyone else heard of these pads......this seems way cheaper than any other price I have seen for PADS on this car.....and where did you get this pads from?

I had aboiut 10K and I had done the fronts twice and the rear once. 2 to 1 is pretty saf. Just double check the rears. Sneak a peak and you will be able to tell if you need to replace them or not.

speaking of which, I ordered new front pads from a vendor on this site, and they accidentally threw in a set of rear pads for free as well...how's that for a deal?

I have no idea why the shims would be missing...in theory, it's locked in there, I obviously could only just use half of each shim as the other half were originally glued onto the OE Brembo pads...I didn't bother to chip and glue that other half on the new pads...is this what people are talking about?

Advanced Auto. Don't laugh... the pads work as good as the oem ones. but they need about a week till they grab the same, don't know why? I've had them on my car for almost three months now and not one single squeal, unlike the stock pads. they also come with a quality shim that has a sticky backing so it stays on the pad and doesn't vibrate. you should also use a high temp copper anti-seize compound. there's a section that explaines this in the how to's.

It's not an advanced auto pad, it's by Bendix, advanced auto is just one of the places that sells them.

This is crazy, why would no one have brought up the cheaper version of pads.......(I do believe you BTW), but if they work just as good. I mean thats why I was going to go with the Hawks, because I thought they were as good as the Stockers, but if Autozone has a set for 20 somthing.......dam that just sounds to good to let go, expecially since I am in a money situation.........hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
