Question Intake?

hey guys...

Well, I got my Evo 8 about 3 months ago and done some basic mods. Boost gauge, Hallman MBC, and HKS catback. Anyway, i was thinking about getting an Intake. I did a bunch of searches and whatnot, and found a whole lot of info, but not quite exactly what im looking for. I know alot of people say to just get a drop in filter, and others swear by their intakes.

First i was wondering about the type of performance gains, if any at all, of an intake compared to just a drop in.

Second, I really dont want to sacrafice much drivability, and i was wondering if I'd have issues with the MAF or anything like that with the intake. And i do plan on sending out the ECU to dynoflash after the intake (if i do actually get one). Would that solve my drivability issues if they did exist???

thanks in advance for the help

Im gonna say it before you get flamed... but the questions you asked all can be found by refining your search. There are literally hundreds of posts on intakes, and if you take your time, they will have the answers you want.
And to your first question, your gains will be minimal at best.

Good luck with your search.

ill say something helpful. there seem to be two camps from what i have read. those who think the stock intake is fine, just get a better filter, and those who say get an intake but make sure you get some type of tuning to go with it. honestly though the search on this forum works great and there is tons of info so do yourself a favor and take a min to search, youll get more information than you could possibly ever need.
