first drag run today.

it was my first drag racing with my evo.
timeslip didn't come out as i wanted to, but it's okay.
my best time was 13.9 with 100mph trap speed.
i had hard time launching it cause i still baby my evo. (1200miles)
but if i drop the clutch right, i might be in mid 13s. i think.
i met couple of evo owners at indy raceway today.
they were nice. it felt good to be in evo community.
i had 5 runs with consistent 13.9-14.1.
i am happy with it and i had fun.
on the way back, me and my friends had some actions. (e55, 350z, golf 1.8t)
they are all modified. i couln't beat the V8 supercharged one.
e55 is one fast car. but in other hand.
i could be running 12s with the money he spent on his exhaust($3000)
but can't beat the sound of v8 superchage.
now, i am ready for the ecu reflash

Congrats!

Should you ever head down this way to do whatever, shoot me a PM and we'll get in touch. I've been looking for an EVO owner or two to shoot around town with.

Not horrible, but the good thing is there is plenty of room left for improvements. Jut keep at it and your times will improve dramatically without a single modification. If you really want some pointers, go to the EVO vs. WRX/STi Shootout (Englishtown, New Jersey) on Aug. 20th, there will be many EVO owners there to help you out on your launching and shifting, I believe it would be well worth the drive.

There's a grand total of 2-3 people running the times you are with the level of mods. You and your car are just a freak of nature. 13.0 at 105 is extremely difficult to get out of a stock 05.

Hey, I tried to be supportive while keeping a neutral face. He wasn't asking for help, so I did not provide any, but 13.0 at 105 is not extremely difficult on a stock 05, because several people did it. In fact, if we were any good at all, we would have hit 12.9s, because 105 is an easy 12.9 with a 1.7x 60'. My 5k limiter kept me at a 1.92 60', so I was "off the pace" so to speak.

Anyway, I have a feeling his HKS BOV (vta) isn't helping things much. He's going slower than stock with several mods, but maybe that will be fixed when he gets flashed in Aug-Sep.

i think that horsepower is like a drug. you want more and more.
and there's always faster cars around you. so i am just trying to enjoy what i have. <--- this way, you don't get frustrating not getting into 13s or 12s...
just drive~~~

BOV is just for the sound
my car is just like stock except exhaust.
i am runnig boost controller, but running stock level. wating for the reflash.
you got some skills~~~
i am not intend to do 5k drop just yet. my evo only has 1300miles.
maybe when things break in, then i'll try 5k drop.
i basically, launched at 2k rpm.

Mine, too.

Don't need a flash to raise boost, but you do need a flash to run that HKS intake you're about to install.

I prefer that you never do a 5k drop. In fact, 5k is too low to begin with, but you still don't want to dump the clutch. Use a feathering technique. Remember that the 5k limiter will come into play, though.

You mean you didn't launch. Anyway, you should have said this from the beginning. It's a complete waste of time to go to the drag strip and roll off the line at 2k. That's a total waste of your money and our time, because the resultant times and mph are completely invalid. You should either LAUNCH THE CAR and get a real et/mph or don't bother going at all.

.

jshin80: I think everyone was running slow lastnight because it was very hot and humid. I was sitting in my car with the A/C blasting waiting for them to actually start. I think the people at IRP were waiting for the rain to come...and nothing came. Anyways, I was the one you waved to in the silver Evo. And no, I wasn't racing hahaha. Did you meet Anthony w/ the yellow evo? Apparently he was able to hit a 13.5 stock last time he was there.

Later on

Oh, by the way, your friends have some really nice cars.

bring up the boost alone without custom ecu tune, i won't get much positive feedback.
i rather wait and get the custom ecu tuned with the boost that i want.
and it wasn't wasting money at all. you get there, meet others, and have fun.
i had fun.
