Now is it just me because doing those mountain runs seem real risky. I am picturing really sharp corners with blind views and not much room for error if you lose it. Is that accurate?

I can see taking an off ramp at whatever speed but to hit the twisties like that on a public road for me seems a little irresponsible.

Hey, but thats just my .02

Or take it to a mini-go cart track. No worries there, fun on a small scale.

I went to a track that has mini gas powered evo and subaru replica cars to race in a oval... very fun!

Just what almost everybody said, autoX is the best place to improve and test your skills. it does'nt abuse the vehicle much (engine wise at least). Just entered my first autoX last weekend and had a blast in my EVO!!!

what do the people that say take it to the track not understand? the whole purpose of the touge is that you can't find its qualities on a racetrack. even the tight willow springs config is long and boring compared to a touge.

what about touges that are "approved" for track racing... think monte carlo... am i not suppose to race on such roads?

you own an evo or i presume most people on here do. what is it really that the evo does best? is it autox? is it track racing? nein and niet, it's a rally car, and the touge is the closest you can get to rally without a big **** up budget.

i'm not gonna lie, i'll call a dumbass a dumbass to his face if he's doin' the canyon at 10/10ths it's just not right. but you get skills and experience that you can't find elsewhere on the touge, ti's a different type of thing and it don't get any respect.

to qualify... i like track racing too, i'd like it lots more if it was free but why not do both. cuz it's dangerous... cuz you got kids... cuz other people got kids and you don't wanna kill them. if you're racin' cars.... sigh... iunno what to say man.

i say get some driving (raceing) classes under your belt learn how to drive the car then decide if your good enough to risk every one else on the road your 18 (i think) no offense but even great drivers can easly just lose it a little and weeeeeeee off the cliff you go is it really worth it??? dont get me wrong speed is great corners are great but be smart do it in a controlled area gravel and rocks can be any where in the mountains

as if gravel and rocks aren't everywhere on tracks too... you get flags for them... and if yer gonna fly into the canyon with no run through even on familiar turf yer stupid.... so if you treat it with the same respect as the track and you do it when it's empty... what is the problem? i'm totally not endorsing risking other people's lives... but you get in a race car you risk yer own every time... so what's the high horsin' about? i doubt lil 18 year olds would be bringing up these points...

the other thing is people go weee off the track at like triple digits... last i checked the higher hte speed the greater the damage... not to say that the damage isn't greater from falling 100 feet off a cliff... cuz it certianly is. i'm just sayin'... yer got risks everywhere... you just try to minimize them all.
