Quick question.......... is ECUTEK worth getting when i only have a turbo back ? and running only on stock boost. And i don't plan to up my boost either. Or is it only for those who have boost controllers and heaving tuners? I ask this question because alot of people are saying that if u have a turbo back or if u do anything to ur Evo your get more power and potanial from the parts u buys such as downpipe cat convertor and an exaust thogh those are rather simple mods. When u get the ECUTEK (Flashing) right? is flashing and ECUTEK the same thing?

ECUtek is a flash for the ECU..not an actual product.

no, it doesn't necessarily have to control the boost. you could use your ebc, but most ecutek tuners would probably feel it would be wasting the power of the program since it has that capability.
Ecutek, IMO, is powerful and packed with features but it has several drawbacks. First, it's expensive, because those crooks demand an inflated fee per license to unlock each ecu that you have to pay for up front with each tune. That fee if I remember correctly is 300 which is more than an safc or a comparable dynoflash (though I should point out that I understand neither of those is an apples to apples comparison). And then you have to pay for dynotime and the tuning fee. Not cheap.
Secondly, if you change mods, you're forced to return to an ecutek tuner to get a retune which could be not a big problem or a major hassle depending on your availability.
So if you're the guy who trusts a single tuner who prefers ecutek, has a definate mindset as far as exactly where they want to go with their car and has the discipline to stick with that mod level, and doesn't mind paying a bit extra for what they consider to be the best, then the ecutek is for you. Otherwise, there are better options out there.
FWIW, there is probably a lot more information on the Subaru boards about Ecutek as those guys have had it available for much longer than the evo crowd. try nasioc if you're interested in finding more out.

i had utec on my wrx. i had been tuned by pdxtuning. then i heard how great ecutek was so i figured i would. my car felt so much smoother, and just as powerful. if you could have multiple maps with ecutek, i would be totally sold on it and get my evo flashed.
ecutek isnt cheap for the tuner...im not sure what it is up front to get the software, but i know its not cheap (~10k). at least its cheaper for the evo guys than the wrx/sti crowd. by 100-200 bucks.
