Drove an 05!

I drove my friends 05 today and i was very impressed with the car in stock form. The car definitley had the power, the shifting felt smoother, very aggressive, didnt get to mess with the acd thou.

Something i didnt like was there was not that much power up top but an improvement over the 03 and 04 for sure. Another problem was that it grinded twice from 1st to 2nd and the car is 2 weeks old. It seems like this is a common problem with Evos from 03-05, even thou claims its revised. My other friend had the same problem and got an ACT clutch and the problem from 1st to 2nd went away. Seems like the stock clutch might be the problem to this.Just wanted to share my experience with the 05, i would trade my 03 if i could but cant

Try some Syncromesh (sp?). Pennzoil makes it, and Im sure others do too. My brothers STi grinds when he goes into 5th.. and people recommended syncromesh to him....

im really digging on our new 05 evo...

it definitly feels a bit flat though above 5500rpms.
i was datalogging the factory boost on the lm1 yesterday and was seeing 20.5 spike and ~17psi holding to red, with the new PeakBoost B-spec fmic (24"x8"x3.5" BPcore).
ill be logging it with the factory fmic this week. even though i dont expect a difference, the top does feel a little better with the B-spec fmic. we'll have her on the dyno this week with back to back testing of the stock, b-spec, and a-spec fmics.

we're needing to run the car in fwd, if anyone has any tips on this, please pm me

Mines a little notchy on slow, low RPM shifts. Its been like this since new and so far I have done SS clutch line, kartboys shorft shifter & shifter bushing(all), removed restrictor, redline oil and adjusted clutch pedal to try to make it better but it really hasent got better on slow, low RPM shifts. Fast, high RPMs shifts are the best I've ever felt (and I've had shoft shifter/bushings in most of my other cars). The next step, I was think of changing to BG syncrooxxxx (dont know exactly what its called or spelled). Like i said fast shift are wonderful, just slow/low RPM shifts are little notchy.

ps never grinds , just a notchy feel

25K ive had it for a year this month, thats def going to be a problem. And its going to suck taking parts out and the springs out too. If it doenst work out, ill get the 10.5 hotside, send my trans and tc to tre and make it better than the 05's

I bet the '05 models pull just as hard to redline as the previous models do but it seems slightly less because you get a large 20psi pull as compared to 19psi. So in '05 its a taper of 4 psi (20 to 16) and in the previous models its only a 3 psi taper (19 to 16). Could this be a reason?

Looking at your sig you should be hitting some really decent power with those mods. IMO i would keep your 03 and build on it. you've already put some serious cash into your car.
