you should be able to get more then $23k for it private. look at nasoic.com I bet you could get $26-$27k with only 6k miles. the only thing that might hurt you is the fact that the 06's just came out
good luck

Gah, this is terrible. I didnt get to the dealer yesterday, basically im just scared that 1) they will wind up bending me over the barrel and i'll be f@cked, or 2) my dad and everyone else is going to be pissed for me wanting the evo after I just bought this car... it is my money though, I pay for it and I do all maintenance. It shouldnt be a big deal but I dont want to **** anyone off. I really dont know what to do, the little voice inside me is saying, "just do it, you love the evo, mitsu is in your heart and blood" then i have the other voice telling me to just stick with my sti and deal with it until my loan is up. but, if I do happen to work something out with an evo where I will be paying the same or maybe tiny less it may be alright then? I know everyone is probably just going to say at least just go to the dealer and see what they say. I will make the trip there on Saturday morning most likely(day off). In the meantime, I am thinking of calling up subaru and getting an exact $ on the remainder of my loan and also taking heavy consideration to the pro's and con's of both decisions.

Well, suck it up and go you wimp j/k

My parents were the same when when I came home with my 350Z. They looked at me then asked me if I was crazy. Then I reminded them that they hadn't payed a dime to help me buy any of my cars and that I haven't asked for any help with it at all; they hadn't cosigned or anything so they had NOTHING to worry about. Just be sure that is what you want to do BEFORE you buy it, don't buy on impulse.

DOn't worry about the dealership either. Remember, you can always walk out. Until you sign the contract you can always change your mind.

Good decision on waiting though. Play your cards right and be sure to check ALL your options before going through with it (whatever your decision is).

Good luck!

Hey TurboSTI, when I read your post it sounded so close to what I am going through now. I am planning on getting rid of my 04 WRX which I still owe about $2000 more then it's worth. Right now I am paying the loan on a 5.99% rate so I was thinking if I can get the 0% or even the 2.99% rate for 72 months I might be able to stay within my monthly payment of $420... theoretically

I went to a dealer to do some number crunching and I wasn't happy with the results, then again I didn't haggle aggressively. I was thinking of selling it privately but with about 2 more weeks of the Mitsubishi deal I won't be able to part out and sell immediately.

Anyway, I'll be watching your thread just to get some information that might be able to help me out since I am almost in the same boat as you are. Good Luck!

you really want to be paying the evo over 6 years? Think about it, thats quite some time. well, Being that I owe less than its worth, I will hopefully be in better shape. how ugly were the results when you went there, and what were they planning on giving you evo for? msrp?

Ok, I kind of figured out what I owe on the subaru... I pretty much did the remainder of my payments X what I pay each month.. comes out to be about 25,000... doesnt look too good lol. Seems like I am better off waiting maybe till i owe less? But then I wont get as much for it... so it seems that the longer I wait for my loan to decrease the value will also decrease... unless i wait for maybe for me to owe a little more then 20,000... then try to sell for around 26,000? What do you guys think?

I wouldn't mind paying off a Car that I love for over 6 years. I've done it in the past. The Dealer was offering MSRP which isn't good but then again I didn't really show any seriousness but the next time I go back it will be a different scenario.
