Finch106,
Your motor is not a 4G63 motor So it might be Chrysler made. All the Non Turbo engines I believe were chrysler made.
All EVO engines are Japanese made.

Back to the original post:
The eclipses, talons, stealths, 3000GTs were all a joint venture by Chrysler and Mitsu....the Evo's 4g63 is not made by Chrysler, and not even made in the US. I cannot say where the older 4g63's were made though, or if they were designed by Mitsu or Chrysler.
Many of these engines were joint ventures with Chrysler and Mitsubishi, either designs, components, or entire assemblies. I do know that the 420a (non-turbo eclipses) are american made engines.. this engine also appeared in several other chrysler vehicles such as the neon, and I think it even appeared in several other mitsubishi vehicles (pickup truck??) Here's the kicker, thats the SOHC Motor.. I am fairly certain that the DOHC head used on the 420a motor was a joint design between mitsubishi and chrysler.
DSM owner here.
The Eclipse/Talon/Laser know as DSM were only made till 96 after that the DSM brand disappear. The Turbo engines have always been Mitsu but the non turbo engines were made by Chrysler that's why the 2.0 and the 1.8 engine used on this cars can be found on cars like the Neon. The only other engine that was made by mitsu was the 2.4 found on the 2G eclipse convertibles.
Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser turbo had the same 4g63 made by Mitsu but there was no sing saying that it was a mitsu engine. Actually the Mitsu sing were stamped on the plastic spark plug cover and the Talon/Lasers had nothing stamped on that cover.
