Btw, Theo, the Evo is 100% useless in the snow on the stock Advans, but with some regular tires, it can do great. I found out the hard way when I drove in snow for one day, and at one point, I was on a slight incline starting from a red light, and I couldn't get up the hill. All the other cars around me (fwd, rwd, everything) were honking and driving by me...eventually, all 4 wheels were spinning and I was moving straight sideways in a slow drift until I got to the curb.

my dad has an 04 range rover and even on the stock tires its nasty in the snow. but ive been in all wheel drive cars and as long as you have a good snow tire you will survive with no problem

this was in my culdesak with my evo and my best friends wrx it was the heaviest snow of the season last year and no one was out intentionally except us... powerslides on usually busy streets when no one is on them..."Priceless".
cannot wait for snow again, though i just got new summer tires and wheels 3 days ago...

In snow 12" or less the evo would take a range.
And the 05s and 06s have ACD which has a "snow" mode. That with some snow tires, the evo is a very good car for the winter.

all i can say is the evo will be fine, if your not pushing a plow, on my Lancer, i had shaved tires in the snow and was pulling e-brake drifts and slides, etc. in the Home depot parking lot, scared the sh*& out of some lady coming out of the store as I slid by at 20. But very controllable FWD car...
