i need some knowledge on catback exhaust system from sombody that knows there sh!#

can anyone tell me if freeing up the exhaust a little bit like catback exhaust
(not a cat delete) is that healthier for the engine than having the stock exhaust on that gives a little back pressure? so is it more healthier to have the catback freed up or is it healthier to have the stock one on? sorry for such a new bee question but it was on my mind because i just got a new 05 and i kinda need money but not sure if i should keep my greddy ti or sell it?plus i really don't want to chance voiding anything i know its just a catback but you never know with

SEARCH!!!!!!!

If you already have a catback system, put it on the car and feel the difference. If you do not like it, take it off and sell it.

Why would Mitsubishi put on a stock part that was not 'healthy' for the car? To do more warranty work? I think not! I usually hate when people post to do a search but God D**N do a search dude!

it has been proven that getting larger diameter piping will damage the turbo due to the turbo spooling too fast

Is that spooling too fast or spinning too fast? I can't see the former causing damage but definitely the latter if it's beyond the designed shaft speed of the turbo and out of it's efficiency range.

I'm gonna have to call b/s on this post. If I'm not mistaken, the wastegate determines how much boost (ie how fast the turbo is spinning). Besides exhaust's effect on normal cars (allows more air to enter and exit the engine), our cars benefit from exhaust gas passing more quickly through the exhaust system (quicker spoolup of the turbo). It will spool quicker, but the wastegate will still prevent the turbo from spinning too fast.

Also, "good" backpressure is a huge myth of the automotive world. You will lose low end torque, but it will increase the cars peak horsepower. Why else would drag cars run open headers.

Also, aftermarket exhaust is actually good for cars (assuming a proper tune). The only reason the manufacturers put quiet/restrictive exhaust on cars is that 1. Most people are annoyed by loud exhaust 2. To pass emissions.

95% sure that you won't get voided for a cat back. That being said "healthy" is a relative term. You can do a lot to a car and still keep it healthy, I think it has a lot to do with how you drive the car that's going to effect the longetivity.

does a catback help the engine at all better then the stock unit?because of it breathing a little bit better

or is it pretty much the same

and has anybody almost had theres voided with just a catback? or did have it voided?
