Evo/STi shootout - See my wheel?
Evo/STi shootout - See my wheel?
Hey Guys,
I live in Woodbridge NJ and somebody stole ONE OE wheel with new Hankook RS-2 from my car and replaced it with an OE wheel with a punctured ADVAN while it was parked.
Did anyone see an Evo at the Evo/STi shootout yesterday that had one mismatched wheel with a Hankook on it? I live relatively close to E-Town and the perp may have gone to the event on my wheel
I discovered it this morning when I made a run to the grocery store and the car got all loose and oversteered when it shouldn't have. The tire was nearly flat and the lug nuts were only finger tight. I was REALLY lucky that I didn't go on the highway.
I looked over the car and thankfully it looks like the scum didn't do any other damage, but now I have to order a new tire and get the mystery wheel tested to make sure it's true and not bent or damaged.
Since I'm sure someone will ask, no, I don't have wheel locks. Now I'll have to get some. I didn't think there would be any interest in a plain jane OE wheel.
Obviously whoever did this was an Evo owner who needed a new tire or wheel. I'm just depressed that someone caused me all of this inconvenience and risked my life over a $120 tire that they didn't want to replace. That's maybe 3.5 tanks of gas these days? Thanks a lot.
If anyone might have spotted my wheel at the challenge or elsewhere, please let me know.

that sucks....wonder why they went through the trouble of putting a wheel and tire back on instead of just jetting after they got yours....weird is right
Thanks for the support guys. I didn't go to E-town, but there is a chance whoever did it might have gone to the event.
Now I wonder if the 'replacement' tire might hold air but was deflated to make it easier to get it back on my car. (But this new wheel even has the little valve stem cap screwed on.)
I took a look underneath and nothing looks crushed, like the car was rested on the skirt with something underneath. *sigh*
I put the donut on and thankfully it looks like there isn't any hub damage or any damage done to anything else in the wheel well.
I had the cops come by. The officer who came by was nice. I'll file a report if there is enough expense to justify making an insurance claim. No point in making a claim for a tire, maybe a point in making a claim for a new OE wheel if this one is messed up somehow.

That's the thing - I live in a quiet neighborhood and it's not easy at all to see where I park my car unless you see me coming or going. I definitely watch to see if anybody is following me as I turn down my street. It's a quiet dead-end street, so I always notice.
There aren't any people that have Evos in my neighborhood, but I stopped by and introduced myself to a couple neighbors who are car guys. (240sx and VW). They seemed cool and said they'd keep an eye out. They don't know any Evos in the immediate area either.
At any rate, wheel locks are now deployed and I've ordered a replacement tire. Hopefully this is where it ends. The guy must have three other worn out tires and I don't want him to come shopping at my place again.
PS: The skirt seems to be fine. I could not find anything underneath the car that looks like it had been crushed. Maybe they used the scissor jack?
