The best place to learn about EVOs

Hello all, I’m pretty new to the forums, been reading for a month, but haven’t register till now.

I have read quite a bit, and would always like to know more. The only problem is, I know nothing about cars, and nothing about Evos just yet, so it’s hard to discriminate between fact and bs. Like if John Evo tells me such and such, how can I be sure it’s true?

My question is this:
What is the best site/source to learn the cold hard facts about evos, one that is trusted and known not to be bs?

Most of the threads here seem to be geared toward people who know about EVOS and cars in general, so it won’t help till I know what is going on under the hood

Thank you all who help

Cheers

Welcome!

Keep reading as often as you can, there is a wealth of knowledge here on this site. It will take some time, but if you are really interested, you'll find that you can't learn enough.

Start reading, and when you see a term that you don't understand, use the search with that term.

That's what I did, and I knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about cars prior to buying this Evo. I've learned A TON since then, and I've actually found myself answering others questions.

The search function is nice, but if you can't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask. You'll end up getting search ****'s telling you to search more, but I'll answer your question with no strings attached if I know it.

Good luck, always nice to see someone wanting to learn.

This site has definately helped me out alot since I bought my EVO. I know a little about cars. I owned a Nissan S13 and a Acura Integra before my EVO. I knew nothing about Mitsubishi until I started going on this site. Another site I go to is www.Socalevo.net and www.allwheeljunkies.com. Check those sites as well.

I was in your boat. I knew nothing about how combustion engines work and only knew a little about mods and performance parts. Go to howstuffworks.com and click on the automotive link. That is where I learned how engines, clutches, and turbos work. Next, read some of the import magazines. Some of them are total crap (cough*Import Tuner*cough), but some are actually very informative (Sport Compact Car, Turbo magazine). Then, just read the forums. When you understand the details of how engines work in general, you will begin to understand the complexities of the Evo. At this point, I am far from being a car expert. However, it is very easy for me to distinguish b/t those who know what their talking about and those who don't.
