Grp N cars are also strengthened throughout the body shell (seam welded, and full multipoint cage.) If you were to go out and buy a clubman spec (very basic, nothing super trick) Evo VIII expect the entry price to be around 70K.
mine has seen several smooth gravel roads, but when it comes to the rough stuff I'll bring out the prepped rally car.

See Greg K's post above for some elaboration on what I was trying to say.
Yes, our showroom cars might be the base for a Group N car, but we're talking very basic here.
The tarmac, snow, and gravel settings are there so you can either:
a) alter the handling characteristics of the car
b) make the car behave most appropriately on tarmac, snow, or gravel
(or I guess it can be considered a combination of a and b)
Once you start driving your car in such a way that the car gets airborne, you can either:
a) eventually break something
b) spend thousands of dollars on the stuff that Greg was referring to above and significantly reduce your chances of breaking something
My comment on the car being set up for "tarmac" is a subtle way of saying that the car is designed more for everyday use than as a tool to become the next Solberg, Makkinen, etc. I apologize for not spelling it out in my previous post. Sure, it's fun, but you'll eventually have to pay for damage caused by something it wasn't built to do. The only exception to this might be closed road-course use with a tarmac surface.
Hmmm...with all that in mind, I guess it appears as though your post was, in fact, not sarcastic. I guess the ACD button IS there so that...

I'm going to regret this statement...

maybe i shouldnt have really been jumping my car but what can i say i got a bit carried away when i was out there. the car is just that awesome. but the car was designed to do well on gravel or snow as well as tarmac. no switch for flight. so maybe i shouldnt have gone there without the proper suspension work done. but hey u got to pay to play.
Just FYI, I am lowered about an inch, but I ran over a little rock and it ripped out my fuel line, bent the cables holding the brake lines and the fuel line in, and made a really annoying sound. I have been offroading, but nothing to serious, I'd like my drivetrain and underbody of my car to survive for track racing.

Exactly... On a flat gravel road, i might push it a little. But if there jumps or rough ****, Im not going to floor it and pretend im in the wrc. I dont make enough money to repair the parts that would probably be damaged.

I know it was a mistake now but it was soo freaking tempting........ u cant really blame me there. especially i was just going through trails without jumps at a high pace. Jumps came up in a hurry and out of nowhere at the same time. It was already too late. Was most fun i have ever had on 4 wheels. or 0 in that case.
