its all depends on your mechanic skills,if its your first time it will take you longer to install.i perfer the shop to install the cams and cam gears just in case something goes wrong and the blame can go to them.

Thanks. I dont plan on doing it. I am just wondering how long it took most shops to do it so I can gauge what a reasonable cost would be.

thats retarted. Maybe if they drink a 6-pack while theyre doing it, it will take 6 hours. They should only charge you for 3 possibly 4 (at the max!)

it should be about 300 dollars in labor.. well 3-350.. so divid that by 75 an hour and that's how long about.

Here's my take on it: He can't (or won't) do it himself, so he is at the mercy of whatever shop he decides to use. It's not a matter of how long it takes them to do it. It's how much they want to make for the hassle of doing it. A good mechanic could do it in an hour and a half...but if he's not your friend, you're not going to be paying that.

Supply and demand.....If you NEED to have this done to your car, be prepared to pay for it. -Gabe

me and a buddy did mine plus headstuds in less than 4 hours

but a shop can charge you whatever they want...i had a shop try to tell me it would take 2 hours to replace shocks and struts in my old car PER CORNER...so thats 8 hours total...i rolled my eyes and left...did it myself in a little over 2 hours

You guys are comparing apples to oranges here.

First you dont know what or how they are going to do to install the cams. Are they installing head studs at the same time? Are they just installing cams? Are they having to retime the motor etc.
