Which exhaust?!? I'm down to Heads or Tails?

A custom exhaust could be cheaper than a brand name exhaust and post similar or better performance numbers. Yes you bought a custom exhaust not an ebay exhaust, great. Theres a difference one is a knock off.
The buschur racing exhaust is the lightest stainless steel exhaust i personally have seen. me saying its ridiculously light is a personal opinion and observation.
Yes a titanium racing exhaust would improve performance because A) it's lighter than a stainless steel exhaust. An improvement in hp to weight ratio granted its negligable is still an improvement B)Its been engineered to perform better. Ever heard of back pressure or resonance?

No, I haven't heard of back pressure or resonance, thank you for asking. Please, explain to me what they mean and how they apply to titanium exhausts being engineered to "perform better." I'd like to know how they perform better than stainless steel exhausts that cost far less. I'm curious to learn...
Simply,
if you can find a used titanium 3" catback, team it up withe a DP and TP and have it cost the same as a full TBE from AMS or Buschur, wouldnt you buy that first combonation because it is lighter? ( $900 )
or is the ( $600 ) megan / logic TBE option just that much greater for the price?
thanks

Wartalon, I can't say that I agree with you on everything you say but this I back up 100%. My "ebay" exhaust helped my power quite a bit. I paid $200 for what looks exactly like an aps that goes for $1000. Take a look at the ebay link and compare to aps, minimal bends, lighter than stock, all mandrel bends, all ss even the flanges. Sure awdrift you can spend boku bucks on buscher he makes kick a$$ parts but i'd rather spend 200 and put the rest to a flash and make it all work right. By the way when I put on my ebay exhaust my car was noticably quicker even without a flash

As for the Megan TBE, it's not BETTER per se, but for $600 BRAND NEW, it's still far better (in terms of cost-benefit) than a piecemeal, half-used $900 exhaust that is only half-titanium...

Wait i thought you said your exhaust " did not have a major brand name associated with it" and cost 350. But now i have to go to logic performance and pay $600?! your original arguement was that ebay exhausts are just as good as a brand name exhaust; not whether or not titanium exhausts are worth the cost. Worth is another thing that is relative. You saying that there are no compromises in quality or power delivery is relative. Do you know that for a fact there was no compromise? Do you have flow bench and dyno results? Do you know what the flanges are made of? Do you know that it is the same quality of stainless steel? Do you know that the bends are all the same bend for bend? Do you know that the resonator and muffler are designed the same as the name brand? No all you have is a picture and someone else's word.
Btw i'm a senior year mechanical engineering major at purdue, smart guy. so if you want a lesson, pm me.

I have the Buschur exhaust on my car and I would say that fit and finish are marginal. I had to trim the pipes for fitment and countersink the downpipe for the stock hardware to work. I am happy with the end result though, I have the highflow cat and Magnaflow and it is very quiet.

I have much more than a picture and someone's word. I have first-hand experience of multiple exhausts and how the perform on the street, at the track, and on the dyno. With my cat-back, safc, mbc, I dyno'd 17whp less than another MR with the buschur 3" (hfc), flash, mbc, cams, and cam gears. A single instance, I know, but these were done back-to-back in the same conditions on the same dyno. My cheap, little cat-back had no restrictions. At the track, the same holds. I ran 12.2 on my cat-back in 80 degree weather then 12.1 on my TBE in 95 degree weather. No restriction for me or the many who have this and similar exhausts.

If you would have read this entire thread you would have known a lot about it, but mainly the Greddy Ti is a very 3" cat back if you are buying it new, more than some TBE like the megan, and as much as TBE's from AMS or buschur. Buying one new is just like throwing money into the wind
That's why I asked about the validity of buying a used one which you can often get for ~600 or so, and teaming it up with proven DP and TP combonations to make a reasonably priced TBE. It is lighter, and it has a good tone, and it makes the same amount of power as the AMS or buschur.. and buying it used seemingly could make it a better deal than those two others.. however it cannot compete with buying a full TBE for under 600
Well Lancershop.com has a combo deal on the Greddy TI with a downpipe and testpipe going for 1040 and change, shipped which in reality isnt that much more than some of the more expensive exhausts out there
