Went on a crazy test drive!!!

I went on a testdrive today....but I wasnt driving. It was the sales manager. I met up with DrMosh of this forum and we were offered a ride in the evo.....a ride we will never forget.

First we hope in, I notice there are 350 miles on the odmeter (dealer car). We take off, with 4 people in the car. We speed up to around 55 then he takes a sharp 90 deg turn running a stop sign!! I've never felt anything like it in my life. The car was GLUED to the pavement. We then proceeded to go on the freeway.....entering the on ramp at about 75 mph while turning. The car remained glued to the road. After we were on the freeway the salesman was cutting people off violently, slamming the brakes, etc. We felt like we were going to crash, but the car was in complete control. He had the intercooler mister on the whole time on intermittent. He wanted to show us the handling more so he was swerving left and right while going about 70MPH. Most cars would have flipped into a tumble with no surviors. He then showed us how you can raise and lower the HID beam. It was amazing. On our way back he drove even more crazy, taking 90 degree turns at around 60MPH with no skidding at all. I cant stress how well this car corners!! Acceleration was amazing even with 4 people in the car! It pulled really hard. The salesman wouldnt go past 5K RPMS so i was really impressed. Imagine what redline would have been like!!!

When we got back we sat and stared at the car some more. He kept trying to justify the $10K mark-up by telling us it's only about 150 a month, no big deal. YEAH RIGHT. LOL. Anyways.....just wanted to vent this out cause I was so excited. as excited as I was, there's no way in heck I'd pay over MSRP. Dino and I also test drove an infiniti M45. Now that was NICE. Hey, and the same price as the marked up evo. How about that!

Rob

55mph 90 degree turn...thats crazy!!! People in the backseat are going to get a hell of a ride without bucketseats. What dealership did you go to Coolguy949?

The car has MONSTER MONSTER grip, riding in the backseat was an experience. I'm sure Coolguy had more of an experience in the front seat but I got the idea plenty. The steering did not seem overly sensitive from where I was sitting, seemed just right for a car that could corner that hard.

I offered to buy the demo but they wouldn't sell that one either and I sure as hell wasn't going to pay the 9999 markup price.

The GM who took us on the test drive was nice enough to give us a test ride but he was full of crap, I wouldn't buy my EVO from that place.

I took the Infiniti M45 out for a test ride, nice V8 and lots of amenities. Me and Coolguy basically walked around all the dealerships but eventually came back to oogle the EVO again.

So again, don't buy from Tustin Mitsu.

One last edit, I did not know you could adjust the HID's, that is really cool.

Damn you guys suck... What color was the test EVO? Through all that crazy driving did you notice any unwanted road noise?? And if he's been driving that car around like that, how much of the tires are left?? I guess it was at night if you were able to see the HID's being adjusted, how did they look??

The test car was silver. I rolled up the windows to hear the road noise and thought it was much less than my eclipse. What I did totally notice is how quiet the engine is through the firewall. The 4G63 in my eclipse is noisier. I'm thinking they put some material behind the firewall. When Idling the exhaust sounds almost identical to my eclipse's stock one. I also noticed that there is a handle above you that you can hold on to as a passenger. The reason I found it because I needed something to hold on to for dear life! The HID's looked awesome! You could see the beam pattern while driving behind people. When behind people, their whole back end would be lit up purple/white. You could move the beam mup and down and it moved like 30 degrees if you wanted it to. Pretty amazing. Does anyone know if it has auto-leveling as well? I can see how it would be easy to leave the beam down. It would be great to push auto and it would aluto-level like BMW/Lexus.

Dude that sounds so badass.... I'm dying to see one in person... I know I'm asking a lot of questions but did you get to see the water sprayers working? It's petty but I was just wondering... If you saw into the engine bay, what type of BOV does it come with stock?? Is it like the 1G eclipse BOV?? Bigger? Don't worry about answering if these are too petty....

I'm kinda curious about redline myself, I know in 1 and 2G Eclipse's 7K is the redline but there is really no point in shifting past 6,500RPMs.. think the turbo falls off at around 6K
