do you mean like a flutter? the HKS SSQV gives a really high pitched sound (i think its sweet), but the closest thing to a "rattle" i can think of is when i didn't have a BOV on my turbo integra it would make like a flutter when the air went backwards through the compressor (not really a good thing, sounded cool/different though, i like the BOV sound better tho)

so yeah if you have an intake and you set your HKS SSQV too tight you will probably be able to hear air hitting the compressor blades and flowing backwards

I thought you werent suppose to adjust any of the bolts on the bov. I think the rattle noise is probably the flutter noise. Over here they call it diarrhea sound

I think this is what you were talking about when you said inserts in the HKS that makes the sound change.

if you have good touch and want to hear the flutter sound do this...

in 3rd or 4th gear(4th is better) at about 3200 rpms and slowly increasing the revs with like 15% throttle start to hit boost ~ 4-6 lbs...then slowly let off the gas, your bov should flutter really loud...thats how i get mine to flutter, sounds really mean, but i have a greddy type-s...

my buddies supra has the hks ssqv and i couldnt make it flutter and supras are known for a mean flutter sound...i dunno just try it

I find that tightening the spring will produce more of a flutter sound but it creates compressor surge...
